is this wheel hop?
i've heard the term thrown around, and i think i may be experiencing it....what i'm experiencing is in any gear, the "lag" between the motor and the ground. for example, if im on the throttle, the motors pulling the car, and then when i let off, the cars pulling the motor...and if im idling along in any gear, i will hit a point where it hitches between motor pulling, and being pulled, therefore jerking around me and passengers. i can solve it very simply bykicking it in neutral, but i would rather drive in gear. this also happens when giving it even the slightest throttle from idling along.....any suggestions?

thanks for the quick reply...i didnt really think it was, but it was the closest thing that i could think of...its pretty confusing to me too...
it kinda seems like something is loose in the transmision, if thats possible? it just has a little delay between the motor, and the wheels, thats really all i can say to explain it....

lol as one of the local SRT guys (thier dicks around here) told me " I know what ur problem is, ur car is slow" not trying to be a douche.. If you have power lags maybe you need a tune up. if you feel like something is loose thier probably is, since you drive the car its easy for you to notice that something is wrong. Do you get a hard kick back ?? check your mounts they always go bad. Also do you have a ATX??

Could be the clutch. You might have a leaky rear oil seal that would not necassarily present evidence of a leak. I have seen a couple of cases where similair signs and symptoms were presented and it was the rear main seal that was leaking. Residue was burnt up on the fly wheel but enough film was on it to cause it to slip. Start with a tune up. Plugs, oil, ect. Could also be your O2 sensor sending a faulty signal to the ECU causing abnormal engine behavior.

It's your torque struts: AKA motor mounts. Mine did the same thing before they were replaced. You can also get the inserts, but if the rubber is too far gone in the struts they will only last for a while then you'll be back in the same situation. get some new(er) struts and the inserts, you'll be golden. The inserts will help the new struts last much longer.

neons have that jerky-ness all the way back to 95. It the jerk were you are not really on the gas but still in gear; ususally where the rpms are around 1000-2000 right? To me it sounds like you are talking about the jiggle that you feel when you idle along in gear and you are not putting any throttle on the gear and the gear is spinning the motor - or trying to- aka the jiggle.
Its just how all the transmissions were and still are in every neon model. This is a light jiggle and not a violent jerk right?

while your car is parked, if you can rock the car back and fourth slightly, and see the motor flexing front to back a fair bit. If it moves quite a bit, then its your motor mounts that are screwed. My car used to feel like the motor was going to blow out through the bumper sometimes because it would lurch so hard under the hood before actually pulling my car forward. I Believe this is what he is talking about, In any case, i bought some prothane motor mount inserts and solved the problem.. Plus when i spin my tires if its wet out, they don't just hop and shudder when the spin, the just spin.
