Post by haknslash » Tue Aug 16, 2005 9:40 am

Hi there guys. I'm a new member here and I see some familiar faces here already. Figured I would post up some pictures of some retros I've done for my car and a few other people before.

Anyways, just showing some pics of my work for the 03-05's.

Yeah haknslash I still haven't contacted some of the names you gave me... I've been trying to save some money since funds were getting low. They do look awesome as I've said before!

IMP you should have tried to fit the projectors in the turn signal area and leave the regular headlights in. For a turn signal you can install a yellow bulb inside the headlight under the regular 9007 and use that as turn signal. I have seen it done and it looks nice.

But FYI... his projectors and HIDs are Dual-Beam from an Acura TL so he has high and low beams and doesn't have a need for the stock halogens. Plus with adding another set of lights to the mix also comes the need to rewire and make necessary improvements to handle the extra drain from the HIDs then ontop of that the 9007bulbs used for the turnsignal.

The turn signal area is wayyy too small for any real HID projector to fit in there.

In order to fit TLs in a 03+ headlight you HAVE to either hack up the rear of the housing and have it leak and look like crap ( I know I know, people won't see it but I can't stand stuff like that heh) or you have to do as I did and custom mold amd make your own enclosure. The reason being is that TLs are MASSIVE. I tried sitting them in the stock reflector, they ended up hitting the lens before you could even get it close enough to try and seal up. They simply won't fit.

As of now I'm riding around with the TSX's and then whenver I feel like having bi-xenon, I just throw in my other housings that have the TLs in them. The TSX's provide enough sufficient coverage to not really need highbeams unless you lived in a very rural area, otherwise its perfectly fine for driving.

Those are really nice, How can I go about converting my 02 headlights to hid projectors, and what would be the projected cost to do this? :

Its amazing how much more controlled the light from projecters are!! That is by far the best mod (non-performance) i have seen done in a long time on a neon.

Boah, they're sofa king hot!
I would give an arm and a leg for it...
But in Germany i would have some conflicts between Xenon and the law.
To use xenon you need a headlight washer and an automatic headlight height adjustment.
And there's actually no way to get some aftermarket products for this...

I know. I haven't forgot at all about it being incomplete. i'm awaiting another retro so that I can take the needed pics to finish up the install. Don't worry, I'll update it as soon as I get the rest of what I need.

Thanks again for all the nice postiive comments on the retro. Means a lot.

Wow, those are some really nice headlights. How much would something like that cost to have done? I just don't think I would feel confident doing that myself.

alot... lol what year of car do you have?if you got 03+ go to srt furoms and get the hid kit for $300 direct swap in and the high beam is a halogen so if you ever need to do some sort of inspection you will be able to pass(hid illegal on highway)
