20004 Crown Victoria - troubles starting

Post by Passt » Wed Sep 24, 2008 10:37 am

My current cruiser is an 04 Crown Vic. When it's parked overnight, or for a majority of my shift, it literally takes 40 seconds - 1 minute to start. I have to crank it and let it turn over for 20ish seconds and turn it back off. Then a few seconds later when I start it, it sputters and kicks and finally starts up. If it is turned off and back on after a few minutes, it starts fine. The retards that work on our cruisers continue to fail to fix this problem. I don't know if they're just not looking for it or what, but it's pissing me off now. Any ideas what I should look for? I'm going to fix this bitch myself.

Do you possibly have a leak in your fuel system? I know that when I was boosted and had a return line, it took my car around 2 to three times to start because I lost fuel pressure due to the return line. Had to prime the system to get enough presure. Starter maybe? Fuel Pump? Evil little chipmunks that are in your engine? Could be any of these...except the chipmunks.

I miss my neon at times. She treated me well and taught me a lot about cars in general. I will always have a special place in my heart for these cars. Heres to the 2gn community.

Yea it's gonna be something with the fuel system I'm thinking. When I try to fill her up, I have to constantly wait for the fuel to go into the tank? It's as if the tank is full the entire time I'm trying to fill it.... the gas pump clicks every 3 seconds as if it were full, even when it's empty. I don't know what happened to it, I haven't had the car for the duration of it's life.

Crown Victs are POS. We have a fleet of them that come into my work that we have to do full inspections on. I would hate to be a cop and have to drive one. They have a ton of electrical gremlins would I ahve found out personally on a number of them.
