racing seats opinion.
racing seats opinion.
so just wanting to get some opinions on something i have been thinking bout since yesterday.
ok well sometime around winter time ( dont know why winter but just go along ) i was going to order myself some bomz racing seats with a 4 point harnes for the front seats now my question is can i take out the rear bucket seat and replace it with 2 racing seats like bolt up some sliders and then just bolt it in place.?? of course it would also have the 4 point harnes.
i coudlnt find any pictures of anyone thats done it but im sure someone has.

So....you want to replace the rear seat and put in racing buckets?
It can be done. I would not bother with bolting sliders down since you don't need to adjust the rear seats. Also, the rear seats will sit pretty high since they would be bolted to the raised portion of the floor pan. Depending on the hight of the seat backs they may be very close to the roof.
Also, be careful when doing the mounting since the gas tank is right below the rear seat.

If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

racing seats = bucket seats
Rear Neon seats = NOT bucket seats.

ok heres what im talking about.
taking the entire back seat out and yeh i am going to buy racing seats for the front but at the same time i was going to order another pair so that would be 4 seats 2 for the front and then 2 for the rear.
as in trying to bolt the racing seats that would genrally go in the front but in the back as well. so it could give it a cooler interior look.
need a more detailed explanation.
sorry if i sounded bitchy.
lol.

But half the fun is dragging horribly belabored ideas through a pit of misinterpretation and incorrect nomenclature to finally arrive at the point of illumination where the subject is finally realized.Opi wrote:i'm one of those, get things done guys. i don't like to, how do you say, "beat around the bush"
And to the OP...got ya. Then my 1st post stands.
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

ok, back to your question. Racing seats are a good idea for the front two seats only if you're looking for functionality and safety. They should be lighterweight, and The harness bar will connect to your two interior B pillars and you attach your 4 point harness to that. That will be safer (hopefully) in an accident, and our neons are death traps in accidents... *points to crash test video*
The back seat is a BENCH SEAT! you cannot put two bucket seats back there. it would not work; you would not be able to see out of the back of the vehicle.
Go to your car now, pull up hard on a corner of your back seat and that is what you would mount your seats to. If you were asking if you could mount the seats to the floor in the back, you could. But your passengers would have NO leg room.

I have seen a few neons that have rear seats (bucket seats) and yes you will loose most of the view through the rear window. The seats can be done, you could design a bracket that will go all the way across the bench area and have it bracket down in front and use the existing bolts from where the seatbelts bolt to. It will take some work, but if you want to do this then give it a shot.

Yeah you have to bolt them in without using bulky brackets. You will lose almost all visibility out of your rear window, and your seat belt anchor mounting points will become an issue. You would also have to fab up a center console or something of the sort to go in between the two seats, and a piece to go behind the seats so the trunk is separate from the interior itself. It has been done, but it doesn't look pretty and isn't worth the work IMO.
