lth on a magnum engine, mild mods?

Post by TOPH R » Sat Sep 27, 2008 10:03 am

Just wondering what everyones thoughts and opinions were on having a long tube on a magnum.

I have the following mods

iceman
60mmtb
extrude honed and ported intake manifold
af/x long tube
2.5" borla

It was mentioned by someone else that the header may be maing too much power up top, and losing too much down low.

What re everyones thoughts, as my car does have very little down low it seems?

I know, I Need a udp.

When i went from a 2.25" system, to a 2.5" exhaust system, i immediately noticed a loss in power down low.. Its hard for me to say if i lost power down, or if it just shifted it up a little higher in the rpm range. i also have an ATX so power down low is kinda weak as it is. I do have a short tube header which is supposed to be better for low end, but still. Looking into LTH's as well right now so ill be interested in seeing what everyone else has to say.

I didn't notice any difference when my LTH was installed. Maybe a slight pulling at the top but it's next to nothing...

If you look at the stock header, you'll shit yourself. It's extremely crappy looking, but if you have the magnum header you should be alright.

The UDP was a much better mod IMO, you could feel the gains a lot more.

I don't have the magnum motor but I never lost anything down low when I went from stock manifold to LTH...just gained a little up top (and have the dynos to prove it)

I definitely felt a bit of a loss down low when I switched to a LTH, however I also switched from 2.25" to a 2.5" all the way back...The gain up top was great though, after about 3,000 RPM's the car defintely gets up and moves.
