I usually never post up on this board, but I always read post about this NGC computer on the neon. What are all the pros and cons of the NGC computer and what does NGC mean? What years of the neon got this NGC computer?

The Next Generation Computer (or Controller can't remember) is on 2003 - 2005 Neons, beit SE, SXT, R/T or SRT.

The pros of the system is that it aims for an idealized air fuel mixture, thus achieving good economy and power.

I have yet to see proven cons of the system. People typically associate the lack of gains from bolt on mods to the computer, however in 2003 (for the SE and SXT) the compression ratio was dropped to 9.3 from 9.8. This also shows that the programming in the NGC computer is better than that for the 00-02 Neons because the engine is still rated at 132hp even though it lost half a point of compression.

If I was to build a high compression motor with all the basic boltons, I wouldn't see that much of a gain because of the NGC computer?

Maybe I can bypass the O2 sensors and just run the car at the track at WOT on the Open Lope Mode??? Change fuel PSI???

No, the higher compression engine should respond well to bolt ons. There has only been one person, Hudson Neon who has done such a build. I should, but haven't, follow it. He has a complete project log in the project log section here.

NGC just means you have to be smarter to get it to do what you want. Just like when the first electronic engine management came onto the scene, everyone freaked out. Now it is favored for the most part over carburetion and breaker points

I think everyone forgot about the Performance PCM that Howell Automotive was supposed to release "later this week"

...in early June...
