electric turbo system!!!

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

The can be good, but the brand is extremely important. You will never get the boost you can get out of an exhaust/belt driven turbo/supercharger.

The other thing that I am curious about is how much power do they pull. If it pulls enough it could lag down your alternator which in turn uses more power, thus minimizing the effect.

one of the car magazines did a review on one. It actually lowered horsepower on the dyno, by restricting the intake. It would take a huge fan to push enough air. Remember a real turbo spools up to like over 10,000 rpm

I seen a vid on streetfire of a leaf blower addin 20rwhp to a S10 and a Civic. Though its just simulating the ram air effect at low speeds.

The only difference is the leaf blowers were ran off the wall power, not the cars alternator/battery.

I would imagine as your revs go up you see less and less boost.

if this is what i think it is and it's a metal fan inside your air intake track, before air gets to the throttle body, then this doesn't work. it was tested on a focus forum, dynoed, and the car lost power across the powerband. I believe it was close to 3-4 hp too....

The thomas knight elctric supercharger is the only kit that is proven and actually works. It's a little pricey though.

And a little massive. Bloody hell, 2-3 starter motors on top of the blower.

I could see how that Knight system could be very effective but not quite as cost effective. Id like to see one used at the track.

dude there is NO way it would ever work...unless you had some SERIOUS gear reduction...even then i would say that is all BS.

and turbos spool up to like 150,000-200,000 RPM.
