mitsu AM/FM/4discCD illumination

Post by 03blackrt » Sun Sep 28, 2008 10:26 pm

I just installed a Mitsu OE AM/FM/4discCD head unit (from a Stratus coupe) into my 2000 Neon. I've ran into a problem... when the headlights are off the radio display is always bright. When the headlights are on and the dash lights are dimmed, the radio lights are bright. When the highlights are on and the dash lights are bight the radio lights are dime.... So the radio lights brighten/dim the opposite of the dash (cluster) lights. Is there a way to fix this? Maybe swapping around a wire or two in the radio harness?

nope

on dodges the dimmer is +
on mitsus its -

the only thing you can possibly do is use your illumination (not dimmer) or parking light wire to trigger a relay that will dim the radio, but it wont fade it will just dim instantly all the way

Thanks!

I grounded the illumination circuit (black/yellow) coming from the radio. Now it is always on the 'bright' setting regardless for healight/dashlight position. Now I can read my radio AND gauges at night!
