Better revised 2008 Economic Stimulus Plan
I have no idea who came up with this. But, it's good! I certainly wouldn't mind.
____________
Economic Stimulus Plan for 2008.......we'll call it
"We Deserve It Dividend"
I'm against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG.
Instead, I'm in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to
America in a We Deserve It Dividend.
To make the math simple, let's assume there are
200,000,000 bonafide U.S. Citizens 18+.
Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every
man, woman and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up.
So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billon that
equals $425,000.00.
My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a
We Deserve It Dividend.
Of course, it would NOT be tax free.
So let's assume a tax rate of 30%.
Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes.
That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.
But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in
their pocket.
A husband and wife team has $595,000.00.
What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in
your family?
Pay off your mortgage - housing crisis solved.
Repay college loans - what a great boost to new grads
Put away money for college - it'll be there
Save in a bank - create money to loan to
entrepreneurs.
Buy a new car - create jobs
Invest in the market - capital drives growth
Pay for your parent's medical insurance - health
care improves
Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean - or else
Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+
including the folks who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other
company that is cutting back. And, of course, for those serving in our Armed
Forces.
If we're going to re-distribute wealth let's really do it...instead of
trickling out a puny $1000.00 ("vote buy") economic incentive that is being
proposed by one of our candidates for President.
If we're going to do an $85 billion bailout, let's bail out every adult U S
Citizen 18+!
As for AIG - liquidate it.
Sell off its parts.
Let American General go back to being American General.
Sell off the real estate.
Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up.
Here's my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn't.
Sure it's a crazy idea that can "never work."
But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party!
How do you spell Economic Boom?
I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion
We Deserve It Dividend more than do the geniuses at AIG or in Washington DC .
And remember, The plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because $25.5
Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.

Sorry, but that is FUCKING RETARDED. Not only would the dollar be absolutely destroyed, but also inflation would make sure that the this country would never recover from the downhill slope that would ensue. Regardless, the money that will pay for this is added to the national debt, or it will be "magic money" made by the treasury that will hurt the dollar even more.
From what I've heard, the buyout is essentially a temporary takeover. Once the companies are restructured and functioning properly, the government will sell them off for a profit. It is this profit that will either go towards the national debt, or be distributed to taxpayers.

So, temporary semi-socialism? That'll work.ZeroChad wrote:Sorry, but that is FUCKING RETARDED. Its not like I've been involved in politics heavily for over three years. Or been president of the student government association at my school, or in the SGA at the university I attend. I probably don't know anything, you're right.
But like I said,

First, my post was in a joking manner, sir.
Also, you cannot say that I have no experience saying as I have worked since 14 to pay for 3/4 of the things I own, this is including car insurance and car payments, gas, food, and some clothes; and no, I am not exaggerating here. Maybe I don't have my own house, or kids, or family to worry about, but that is not grounds to say that I have zero experience as to what the "real world",as you put it, is like.
In addition to that, having "experience" does not make you some political genius nor does it give you the complete picture of the "real world".
I do not mean any of this as offensive, I get what you are saying, but you cannot just assume that people who have differing views than you are "

Buddy, I know your first post was a joke and I know where you are coming from. Second of all read the quote I selected. Stop. Read it. Here I will quote it again:jake_tim wrote: I do not mean any of this as offensive, I get what you are saying, but you cannot just assume that people who have differing views than you are ""

That is exactly what you are saying and doing when you posted you are making yourself look hypocritical and foolish. I'm not trying to start a fight or be rude to you. You do provide great on-topic posts to the community and I want you to know I'm not trying to be a dick to you intentionally.
jake_tim wrote:republicans with an ignorant mentality= epic failure.
Who said anything about political genious, your the only one interjecting politics here. Experience may not give a complete view of the real world but it at least gives you a peak.In addition to that, having "experience" does not make you some political genius nor does it give you the complete picture of the "real world".
My friend, it would appear that you have had neither a peak at the real world nor have a clue about it and that you simply cannot agree with anyone with a conflicting opinion. That brings me to the this point. I'm not saying my views are better or that I have more experience, I'm saying you don't have any at all based on reality.
You are 18. You are acting like your 18. Thats okay because you're 18 and you will learn to understand things you may not have a good grasp on yet.

Allow me to reflect simply on this thought for a moment (since we don't like to read a lot) ... What I see here is something that I sort of believe in...jake_tim wrote:republicans with an ignorant mentality= epic failure.
"with an ignorant mentality" is pretty much my what has been running the republican party lately, IMHO. How I interpret this is that they have, for too long, believed that "God" is going to do the work for them... hence the familiar statement of "the God Only Party (GOP)." When they are able to surpass this and actually think for themselves to accomplish something they do have something intelligent and worth listening to in politics. But then thinking for one's self lately has not been a priority for many in either party... Just my $.02.
