Do I need a puller?

the specific crank pulley puller is like 150 bucks, I was told I could just use a generic puller to do it, and some said there was a way to do it using a c clamp or something? thanks guys.

A C clamp?! I don't see that happening at all. You can rent the tool at Autozone, I had to give a deposit of $60 and got it back when I returned it.

I used an 8 ton 3 jaw puller.

Yes, you can use a C-clamp, but I forget how. Totally not worth it, just rent the damn thing. Although I've heard of people breaking the ones they get from AutoZone. I think, at least.

The autozone chrysler specific puller works, you just need to stick a 1/2 inch bit under the rod to get the pulley completely off since the rod is just slightly too short. Getting the pulley back on was the biggest pain for me.

just get the puller from autozone. broke 2 generic ones then finally went and rented and it was off in 5 minutes.
