Sunroof problem
Sunroof problem
I searched for a solution to this, but didn't really find anything so...
I have an 03 sxt, and it has been mechanically/electrically sound for the 9 months or so that I've had it, until recently. One day in the morning I noticed that the sunroof wasn't completely closed. I opened it once in the car, it opened all the way back just fine, and then it wouldn't close. I looked closer at it, and saw that the plastic triangular piece on the left side is disconnected from that circular black plastic piece with the "pin"...I tried to reconnect them, but it seems impossible...will I need to take off the sunroof? Anyone else have this problem and hopefully solve it?
Thanks. By the way, the right side seems fine.
EDIT: oh and I hear a click when I try to close the sunroof, so I assume the motor is fine.

The pin is a common problem with our cheap ass sunroofs. Try disassembling it and getting the pin in the original position. I haven't had this problem yet, knock on wood but just about everyone I know has had difficultly with the sunroof, myself included.

Well I actually knew about the chrysler warning about going over 70 with it open, long before any of this happened...so no, I've been careful recently about closing it before exceeding even 50, because I'm just paranoid I guess.Midnight_Rider wrote:Same thing happened to my car last year. Have you been driving over 70 MPH with the sunroof open? Oops, hope that your car is still under warranty.
I really want to avoid taking it in, so I'm going to try to put the pin back in the original position i guess.

Oops 120 with it open. Shit gets loud.
Um, sunroof repair is relatively simple. I mean, if I can do it, anyone can. Not sure of your problem, though. I'd take the entire thing out first, and work on it from there. Pictures would help. If it's too bad, hopefully it is under warranty as they can get pretty expensive. If it isn't terrible and you can fix it, well, shit, there you go.
But, pics!
