I went out and bought a 2000 Neon with a friend of mine (for her), and there is a problem with the Dome Light. I noticed when buying it that it wasn't coming on, and that it was saying "FUSE" and "DOOR" on the cluster.
Sure enough.. the bulb was gone.
When installing a bulb.. it came on.
The DOOR thing was still there, but I'm pretty sure the FUSE went away (I don't know for sure.. I haven't seen it). This is pretty much as I expected to happen.
So the next problem was to get rid of the DOOR message. Obviously the triggers needed adjustment. I added sticky pads to make sure the triggers seated tightly.. and now the DOOR message is gone when all the doors is closed.
The problem is.. the dome light is always on.
It is a base model car, and I did not see anything on the headlight stalk to turn the domelight on or off.. did I miss it? Is there any other reason the dome light would stay on?? Trunk light?
Let me know.. it acts as if the dome light switch is activated.. but like I said.. I didn't see one.
I also did not see a trunk release? Pretty sure these 2nd gens were all electronically activated.. and that was an option? No easy way to get into the trunk as the key doesn't work in it.
Dome Light Problems.. Always On.. Base Model.

The illuminator switch on your turn signal portion of the multi function switch moves all the way forward to brighten up the instrument panel. It then clicks forward to keep the dome light on, at all times. Click that piece (it has a small tab) back one, and it should turn off.
Trunk release, if you have one, is in the glove box on the upper left hand side. Its a small circular button.

Use a flat blade screw driver.. or your finger nail to pry on the driver side part of the lens (gently). It will pop down and the other side kind of hinges down.NEON PARABOLA wrote:incidently, how does one remove the cover for the dome light? I wana take the bulb OUT I hate dome lights.....
As mentioned in the first post.latief wrote:Check your door ajar switches ... the will cause the light to stay on + will give a fuse warning in the dash
All door triggers are working correctly. I needed to space a few of them out with sticky pads in order for them to make contact correctly.
Those problems alone would not attribute to the FUSE on the dash though. That is most likely due to the lack of resistance in the dome light line..
I did find a blown fuse most recently.. it was for something called "P OUT AMP" or something. Anyone know what that is? It was a 30 AMP.... according the circuit diagram it was used for the SRT only?
