SRT wheels price/fittment on 01 neon R/T

Post by Boyscoutgonebad » Sun Oct 05, 2008 9:11 am

Found a set of SRT Wheels for sale near by. had two questions

1. what is a reasonable price for SRT wheels/what have others paid for them?

2. will there be any issues fitting my 01 R/T. I believe I read somewhere that spacers would be needed?

thanks for any help you can give.

reasonable price is 150-250 for the rims depending on condition ...

they will fit, yes. but not with stock srt tires as those tires will rub on the strut perches of the regular neon/ rt.

you need 205 40 17 tires to make it work.......(no spacers needed) ...

also, be aware that srt rims are 6" wide, it is not recommended to go more than 205 for tire width on this rim width, it is doable, but not recommended ..........

good luck !!!

I paid $200 for 4 SRT rims with O.K tires.

On stock struts, a 5mm spacer cleared the tires for me.

Good luck, don't pay more than $200 if they're not pristine or with tires

its not even recommended to use 205/40's on 6" wide wheels. 205/40's should have a minimum 7" wheel

just making sure I'm not missing something, 205/50 is what they come with stock correct? so your saying that the way they come from the factory is not correct. I'm pretty sure my R/T's are 6in wide as well and they are running 205/50's

racer12306 its not even recommended to use 205/40's on 6" wide wheels. 205/40's should have a minimum 7" wheel"

from the seller "One wheel does have a scrape on the outer lip about three inches long. It is not noticable at a distance and could be touched up so as not to be noticable closer up. They are painted the same bright silver as on many Dodge cars. The tires have a lot of tread on two and about half on the other two. They are BFGoodrich size 205/50ZR17. They will fit a regular Neon but will need spacers if you don't have an SRT"

he's asking $350 i'm thinking no more than 300? what ya think.

With a coil over set up i wouldn't have any issues rubbing would I? Don't have coil overs yet but some day.I'm thinking picking these up and garaging them for a project latter down the road.

205/50 on a 6" wheel is fine. but because the sidewall is shorter on a 205/40 tire it requires a wider wheel. the sidewall can't flex as much to accomodate a narrower wheel.

if anyone doesn't believe me go to www.tirerack.com and look up the size 205/40/17 and look at the recommended wheel width, it will say something around 7"-8". Then go look at 205/50/17 and the recommended wheel width will be around 6"-7.5" or 8".

If you get coilovers or Srt struts, you should be fine with those tires......stock struts, tires will rub on strut perches.....

good luck !!

thanks for the clarification, I understand now. If i buy them i think I'll probably wait to put them on until i can get some coil overs as well.

They won't be stretched, the will be bowed in somewhat. The tread of the tire will be out more than the rim. But since you can't run a 50 series tire, that's you best option.
