how good are you with upolstry? if you are sketchy on it, then it would take some more work. you would effectively turn the trunk into a box.

it would be called a IB setup, u could just attach a piece of mdf or even 2 pieces to the backs of your seat, and mount them on the trunk side. but remember, some subs don't like IB installs.

not to mention that no one would be able to ride in the back seat nor would you really be able to put anything there for fear of damage to the sub. if you are that worried about space get pair of subs that require less airspace. some need 0.5cf or less.

If you don't ride around with your spare tire, you could make an enclosure that works with the area at the bottom of your trunk.

why dont you take the plastic board out the back of the seat and cut your hole in it then remove some foam from the back side of the seat and put the plastic board back in. s that way you still have your seat and the sound will come through.

I kind of like the idea. Just make sure to keep the area in the center open so someone can sit there and enjoy the ride. You'll have to reinforce the seatbacks, though. You could custom fab up some mesh cages or something to prevent damage to the cones, and it might hide the unsightly upholstery you might have when you make your holes.

you could also get some speaker grills to help from damaging the speaker

if it were me, i'd just bolt a peice of 3/4's mdf to those seat supports the ones that go something like this:

/ back|seat \

cut your sub holes, in the mdf then when u mount the subs to the mdf, mount it on the trunk side so that u have the 3/4's mdf and the backseat supports for clearence so the cone / dustcap does not rub on the back of the seats

Not a bad idea. Same way the rear deck speakers are covered but still work fine. And since a sub uses vibration to make sound, a direct path to the listner isnt really required (hence why people put them in the trunk in the first place).

I forgot about this idea. Get an enclosure from a Neon with the Kicker Livin Loud system. Use that and put your own sub and amp with it. It won't be crazy loud, but enough and it won't take up your trunk.

make sure you buy "open air"/ "infinite baffle" subs if your not going to put it in an enclosure
