any idea why it is still pulling

Post by c987long » Tue Oct 07, 2008 4:43 pm

alignment is ok, i hit a curb about a month ago, outer tie rods and lower control arm on pass side were replaced. Tire pressure is about the same all around, tires are like new....

sooo could the hub be messed up, sway bar maybe bent?

and ideas welcome

thanks

Take it back to the shop that did the alignment and ask them. Thats why they are certified.

alignment was just checked a couple of hours ago... they said it was fine, i watched them the whole time... I know that my caliper bracket is bent, or possibly could the hub be off

Check your wheel bearings, and it still could be the tires try rotating them.

I understand that but if they are an alignment shop and the alignment was just done and still pulling they should beable to narrow down the prob. We do this all day at work. I know for a fact we would never let a car leave still pulling after they payed to have to fixed/checked.

cross rotate the front tires if they're not directional and see if it pulls the other way. If so then you have a bad tire/s. If not, look at the front and rear lower control arm bushings and see if they're good. make sure the inner tie rod is oaky. jack up the car and wiggle the tire side to side. If there's excessive play, it could indicate a bad inner tie rod, outer tie rod (doubt it since you just replaced it), or hub and bearing assembly. Put a pry bar under the tire and lift the tire up. If you feel movement that is kind of loose and clunky and doesn't feel like suspension travel, your lower ball joint is probably bad. Also, and this is a big one, make sure there are no bent or damaged suspension pieces (lower control arm, sway bar, sway bar end link, strut, knuckle, rim) and that the subframe itself is not damged in any way (bent, cracked or broken).

lemme know what you find.

Bent caliper bracket can cause a dragging brake which can cause a pull. The other most likely is the tire.

Also post your alignment readings and I will read them for you and tell you if you have and issues not apparent to most.

i forgot to update here...

got the alignment checked out a couple of weeks ago and everything was fine to the point where it was not pulling.. ( i am hopefully going to be lowering my car in the spring so i didn't have an alignment done). We have narrowed it down to either the bearing or the hub.. so through the power of friends and family i am going to hopefully getting replacements and have them replaced up at the dealership where my uncle is the shop manager. And hopefully my buddy will come through for me.. one of his family members works for dodge and will hopefully be able just to snag the parts that i need for cheap.
