Street Racing Section go bye bye? Everyone thoughts?
First, please everyone, keep this respectful... some people will have differing opinions on this since arguements tend to start up in the Street Racing board, I don't want it to carry over into this thread.
My question is, how many feel that the Street Racing board should be removed? For one it's illegal to street race, there's no getting around it... if you want to legally race someone, take it to the track. However a lot of disagrements start up in the Street Racing section and over time some have showed an interest in just getting rid of the section b/c it doesn't do anything but cause trouble.
I'd like everyones input? Thoughts? Ideas? Would you really mind not seeing it anymore?

I'm not big into street racing and while I have obviously "tested" my car I have not ever street raced per say. I vote lets get rid of it as I have seen too many people get hurt personally from it (The reason I never do it).

Well being that it looks like so far everyone is in favor of getting rid of it I have another question that has been brought up as a cause of getting rid of it.
Just because the section is gone doesn't mean that the stories may go away. If someone wants to tell their story they may just make a post about it in the OT section or somewhere else on the forum...
So really the stories may not go away because the section specific to it is gone.
With that said, if someone makes a SR topic on the forum should it be what it is right now, left alone until it turns into a shouting match... or locked for just the point of it being a streeting racing thread and stories of that sort wont' be allowed here.
Inputs on that?

I vote to get rid of it. Street racing is dangerous and illegal, but I think these guys understand the risks when doing it. I say remove it because people just seem to fight, and if someone posts a recent kill, at least one person will chime in and start yelling explaining the dangers of racing on public roads. People are still going to street race, and this forum has never advocated street racing or endorsed it, but I think we're better than having a section devoted to it, no matter how many people use it. Go ahead and race, you know the risks, but I don't think the forum should have anything positive to do with street racing, one being giving people an outlet to talk about latest win or defeat.
I feel that if the section is gone there is no responsibility on your side Diablo0. If something happend in a street race and it was posted here you are not going to be responsible since it was not posted in the STREET RACING section. You can not say that you do not agree with street racing but supply a dedicated outlet for it on the forum.Diablo0 wrote:Just because the section is gone doesn't mean that the stories may go away. I for one DO NOT condone the instant locking of someones street racing thread! That is going too far! If the thread is out of hand then sure lock it under the normal guidelines. If someone wants to post it up in OT, go ahead and let them. But it will be the OP getting in trouble if something happens outside of this forum, not anyone here.

I have never gone into it. As the members age gracefully, they prolly grow out of street racing and let's face it, most of the Neons around are not going to win too many races save for a few select ones. But those owners would fall into the "more money than brains" category if they are still out there street racing. And why brag about it online? It's like telling drunk stories of how you puked on your ex-GF's sister or how high you got at some party and ate a whole bag of oreos. Only like minded people would care. I would like to thing that this place does not attract too many of those.

I vote to leave it. On another forum I am on everything is scaned over and anything anybody who isnt the mod staff says that the mod staff or their friends dont like is deleted in my opinion that kills the forum. The street racing section mostly turns into arguments, in fact why not re-name it the argument board and just let people fight un-moderated until it becomes excessive, quite a few of the other forums Im on have and argument section. I by now have learned to not go into the sections I dont like(Exterior/Drag racing/Street racing ect) I think the rest of us can do the same. If you want I can mod the argument section.

Get rid of it, with the way the world is going today and new internet laws, etc I don't think it would be fair for Jason to have to make a choice about handing over screen names and stuff if one of the members here does something stupid and is sued. Not to mention hopefully the pure enthusiasts will remain when the asshats have no where to post their s00p3r d0p3 illegal race stories.

Bah, whatever. I'm not even voting. It's still funny to read the kid with 3 total posts tell a story about how their ATX SOHC with a drop-in air filter destroyed a Z28 on spray.
I understand both sides, but frankly, kids that street race are part of the car community. Have I ever pulled against some tard on the highway? Of course! Have I ever set up a race for money and went somewhere to do it? Nah, but I probably would if the money and conditions were right.
As soon as you get rid of the street racing section, the stories will just move to the off topic section anyway, where people that have no interest in the subject will have it in their faces.
Burying your head in the sand won't stop your platoon from getting mowed down as they run up the beach. I say you just title it better so that it's not a street racing section, and have it include that part of the community as a whole, instead of just the occasional event of a street race.

I say get rid of it but in its place maybe put in a "hot spot" section were people can go to bench race, vent, flame, fight, and do all that other pointless stuff and generally be post whores with out "trashing" up the OT section. I really like the OT section because it gives us a place to get to know each other and become that 2GN "family". I would hate to see the OT section be FUBARED.

Okay,
In talking to racer12306 and throwing some ideas back and forth I'd like some opinions on this.
What we're thinking is that like some mentioned above making a special section dedicated to street racing but more of a hidden section if you will. You will need to have a required number of posts before you will be able to gain access to the section to prevent possible trolls from joining the forum just to cause havoc. Physical threats would not be tolerated thus resulting in a perma ban without warning. All discussions must be kept to that section. If you get into a disagreement with someone it must be kept to that section and that section alone, bringing it outside of that section and into other parts of the forum would result in a temp ban. All street racing threads MUST be kept to that area, not doing so could also result in a temp ban.
