A header is not going to add that much HP.blue demon02 wrote:Cran 14 or 005, AFX PCM, and a better Long tube TTI or OBX. And most importantly of all some ITB's. IMOzeRk_RT wrote:what would i need to get close to 180whp

Takes a lot to get that far without boost

A buddy of mine dynoed 179 with a ported head, crane 14, Fast fabs LTH, and ITB's. The bottom end was stock and the PCM was stock. IF you throw in a cran 005 or a AFX PCM you should be golden to hit 180.Adionik wrote:A header is not going to add that much HP.blue demon02 wrote:Cran 14 or 005, AFX PCM, and a better Long tube TTI or OBX. And your compelatly wrong about the Header. An engine only flows as good as its most restrictive point. In his case its the shitty Kirk header. I have had one before. The primaries are just too small. It will be decent on the low RPM but in the high RPM it will be verry restrictive.
Oh really, so what do you predict a header would gain with and without supporting mods?
BTW 180whp is no prize IMO, it's what these should have come with stock with their weight

Headers are mostly defeated by the zero overlap cams that are stock (except the '95 cam). With out overlap there is no pulling the intake charge in via scavenging. Get a cam with overlap and the gains from the header come into play.Adionik wrote:Oh really, so what do you predict a header would gain with and without supporting mods?

Of course so does unburned fuel influencing the o2 sensor. But if there was a way to pull CPS timing at low rpm that would be a non-issue. There would just be clean air flowing past the valves.

Probably shouldn't listen to anything your penis says, that guy's a dick.
Too much time spent here is a sign of a bad case of Ownaneonvirus.Patience, of course, is a very powerful weapon, but sometimes I start to regret that it is not a firearm.

What's so funny? You don't think 130 @ the crank is lethargic for these cars? Compared to a 1st gen these things feel like tanks when flooredracer12306 wrote:At their weight? hahahahaha

Well that is a much better explanation. So you pretty much run rich if you throw a cam on there?Headers are mostly defeated by the zero overlap cams that are stock (except the '95 cam). The OBX should work fine for an R/T. The bolt patern is the same only differance is the ports are bigger. I'm pretty sure the OBX ports are big enough.zeRk_RT wrote:i didnt find another headers for the r/t i saw some obx racing headers on ebay but all of them said they were for neon no r/t how can i find an obx for neon rt

Don't forget an afermarket intake mani might be a good thought. Wait, nevermind, he has an R/T. You should have your intake P&P'ed to flow better zeRk_RT; but again to get the MOST out of it a cam is absolutely necessary.

And to Adionik, I'm not sure if that's sarcasm or not, but installing anything like a Crane 14 or larger is a guarantee that you'll run rich at idle due to the overlap. An SAFC or MS are the usual cures for that.Adionik Posted: Sun Oct 12, 2008 2:09 pm Post subject:
