dual exhaust ?

Post by slonoma98 » Fri Aug 19, 2005 12:03 pm

Guys I want to put the dual exhaust R/T type exhaust on my 2000 Neon ES. I've read that it isn't very loud and looks good, exactly what I'm looking for. However I got 2 part numbers...what's the difference...5278624AH from the dealer for $146.64 and 82208428 from dodgeparts.com for $168.24? Also what all is included in the kit? Is it just bolt on with no need for additional muffler shop pipes? Thanks

Most usually are just bolt ons, especially since you're getting an exhaust from another neon. I don't have an R/T exhaust but i'm pretty sure you don't need any additional pipes. You shouldn't run into any problems installing it. The whole install should probably take as long as it'll take you to remove the old muffler.

As for the difference in price, I dunno. If anything, look for that muffler on the boards. It'll be hella cheaper.

You may want to consider the cut-outs you will need to do in your rear-fascia/bumper and the associated bondo/paint work. The bends in the ES plumbing may be different too. It'll be way more work than you think. I guarantee it.

no more then just unbolting the old one and replaceing it with the r/t. just bend the hangers so the tips are not touching the rear bumper. Also if you have an es/sxt you will need to find an adaptor from a parts store since the rt/acr piping is 2.25 at the rear and the other car is 2.00.

OK. If he bends stuff it might work. And a quick trip to the parts sto' for the adapter should do it. (I prefer the cut-outs to the Borla look.) To each his own. Good luck with your project dude. :)

The R/T had 2.25" exhaust and yours is 2.00" so I think one of them comes with an addaptor pipe but I cant remember if that reflected into the P/N or it was a separate number. You will be best off calling them and asking whan the kit includes.

Thanks for the replies. Do any of you know if the two part numbers are the same thing?

dont buy the adaptor pipe from dodge. They charge way too much for it. Just get it from a auto parts store. only like 2-5 bucks.

I put the R/T exhaust on the ES/SE whatever and it worked fine, didn't have to modify anything.

Don't buy a new one when u get can get one for half price used!

Neonsxt has one for 70 plus shipping! So even if the shipping is 30 bucks, it's still only 100.

I have one for $75 with tips, plus shipping.

Whenever possible, buy used to save, save, save!!
