I'll start of by saying I don't really know much about car audio, my friends usually help me.
So i bought a rockford fosgate 10'' T1 on ebay, its rated 600rms at 2ohms. It came in and I didn't have an amp so I tested it in my buddies car with his 250rms 2ohms sony amp. It wasn't that loud but it was clean and deep sounding bass.
Fast forward 2 weeks and I buy a MTX 81000D class D amp rated at 1000watts RMS. Yeah its alot more then I need but I got a great deal, i figured i'd just keep the gain turned down.
So i hooked it up and heres where the confusion started... it turned out to be only a little louder then when wired with a sony amp that had 1/4 the power, but sound quality is terrible. I tested it again with the sony amp and same results, with the sony amp its almost as loud, but sound quality is great.
What gives?
Maybe i'm just getting ahead of myself since I havn't really spent much time trying to tune the deck and the amp. Gonna spend some time attempting to tune it later today, will keep you posted...but untill then, wtf?
My Rockford T1 sounded better with a shitty amp? What gives?
