In the Market: Coilovers
ok so im in the market for some new car parts like always and im leaning toward suspension upgrades.....im in the market for some coilovers and have looked at a few setups but when i searched on here and read things on other forums i keep getting so many different opinions idk what to go with
what if looked at-
mopar staged coilovers (heard ok things but pricey)
tien (heard bad things)
BC (told to stay away)
heard about gc + koni setup = good
really im here to get some input from yall on what the best setup would be
im looking for something that i can get a little drop out of and still maintain good performance and i want to be able to adjust the ride height so no springs. any and all info would be great

Nobody will agree with me but here goes:
Koni/GC: Best
Eibach: good no damping adjustment
Mopar/KW: good but $$$
Tien: Over-hyped dampers suck
BC: $100 replacement dampers should say eneough
Call ground control or truechoice and tell them you want coilovers for a 2gn neon, GC has several dampers you can choose from

^ Nobody bought them?
I should have asked what you want the coilovers to do? If you just want the height adjustment than the eibach or sleves are best. If you want to have coilovers for the fact of having coilovers and not much else go BCs. If you want a proper set of real racing dampers koni is your only close to direct fit and about the best. If you have too much money and want to be cool(for a suspension dork) call Penske and ask real nice

D2 also makes a direct fit in the same price ballpark. If you want to spend silly money, call Woodhouse or any of the other SpeedWC teams that ran SRT's; they probably all have parts still in the shop.
Just stick to fart cans, AEM stickers, and park benches bolted to your trunk lid for a little while while you learn the ropes, OK?

I don't have a lot of Money... and after talking to a few other people. the BC coilovers give the best bang for the buck for what you pay for. They have dampening adjustment, height adjustment, and Camber adjustment. I haven't heard anything really negative about them. Sure there is better, but is it really worth the extra money?
Why am I switching? because after 70K miles on my eibachs and KYBs, my struts are beginning to show signs of wear and will need to be replaced soon. Really... I want the coilovers to do better than my spring/strut setup. The big attraction to me is the camber adjustment because I've had problems attaining a neutral camber and really want a negative camber. The dampening I hear is pretty good and is adjustable so win win.
This is my only car and a daily driver and as such I have not taken it to the track. That day will come, but for now since I can't afford the "best" I'll get what I can get the most out of my money with.

Here is my opinion, I would go for the bc's all the way! No questions. I have had springs, Mopar S3 coilovers and now BC's. The BC's are by far the best.
They have seen many track days and I use my car as a daily driver. I drive my car 80 miles one way for the commute and I drive my car to the track pulling a trailer.
Best bang for the buck!

what about as far as lifetime? If you set your coilovers to be as rough and firm as possible will they wear out quicker?
What about weight in the back seat? When I asked this in a post a while back people just told me not to let anyone ride in the back seat! So will your car scrape/bottom out with two or three people in the back seat if the car is lowered like some of you have done?

You look like someone with a vested interest in turning, get them on a shock dynoBlazinsrt wrote:Here is my opinion, I would go for the bc's all the way! No questions. I have had springs, Mopar S3 coilovers and now BC's. The BC's are by far the best.

Well I really dont have money to set the car on a shock dyno. Besides that is more for how much can they take if they were to be beaten on 100% of the time around the clock.bone-yard-racing wrote:You look like someone with a vested interest in turning, get them on a shock dynoBlazinsrt wrote:Here is my opinion, I would go for the bc's all the way! As for my set up I daily drive with them on a softer damping and when I go to the track I have them set a little stiffer. I like the BC's for more than one reason. Ok they are cheap (for the money I am getting more for my money) so far they have lasted ( I have friends that are already having their KW's rebuilt). If and when they go out their still cheaper. One thing for the track that makes BC's better is the fact that you can do a true corner balance as opposed to the KW's. Now with that said If KW's had the ability of adjustment that the BC's have I might have stuck with them because they are rebuildable and the valves can be changed.
