Cleared out an area and the guys are supposed to be there right now removing sod and laying stone for the shed.
now i just need to pick a shed and make sure they can fit their trucks in my back yard. or i'll end up building it.

The foundation is in place. Looks pretty good, they left a few ruts in the yard I wasn't expecting but damn is my yard soft.
I think I'm going to build the shed. It would give me more storage in the loft.

Old Lady House Mod:
One of our neighbors came over on Friday, before I got home, and talked to my wife about some work she wanted to have done. She said that she wanted to trim back a bush that is ours but was overgrowing onto her side of the fence. She said the guy might need to come on to our property to reach some stuff. My wife said it was no problem and to go ahead and do it.
So Saturday there is a guy out there at 9a with a chainsaw on our property (which we expected) and he was cutting up some stuff. We didn't go over there to look at it but it didn't look like he was getting too crazy. We stopped by to talk to the lady and apologized that we didn't realize how much was hanging over onto her property and offered to pay for a portion of it.
We left to go to our nephews t-ball game.
We came home to this:

Apparently when old people say trim back they mean completely remove.
I'm ok that it's gone, it was in my plans to do it this summer. It was an eyesore (you can see part of it below). I'm just really annoyed that someone would be so deceitful about this. We went and talked to the guy doing the work and we were pretty surprised. He said that she told him to get rid of the whole thing. It really seems that she just wanted our permission for the guy to get on our property and then had him go to town.

We saw her talking to the guy and I'm sure he told her what we told him. We haven't seen or talked to her since Saturday morning when we agreed to pay for a portion. We know how much the guy charged and she said she would let us know how much it was after he was done as she didn't know.
I'm wondering if she is avoiding us because she knows she did something wrong. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a note in our mailbox (like we suggested she do if we aren't home) when we get home on Monday.
I spent about an hour cleaning it up and finishing the job the guy should have done. I still have a good bit of work left to get it nice and clean. The bush was growing with the links of the fence. He did take out a small tree that I didn't want gone, I am rather annoyed by it.
The alleged reasoning behind wanting the bush gone is because of snakes and rodents. We live in city limits, the chances of snakes and such are probably pretty low and this bush isn't up against the house so there isn't a big risk there.
In other news:
The ground is firming up really well. I think it's about time to order a shed. I'm pretty sure that I'm just going to buy one because to be honest, I just don't have the time to build a shed.

I'm really torn because I'm glad it's gone, but disappointed that an older person (she is probably 80) would take advantage of us. I thought older people were supposed to be more respectful than this.
I'll probably just let it be for now, but she will never get approval to do anything near my property again.

I really don't want to make a big stink about the tree. I wasn't in love with it, it was actually a PITA to mow around, but I wasn't going to remove it.
We will just have to see how the lady approaches it. If she never says anything to us about it again we won't be saying anything to her about it again.

We now have a deadline for our house goals, we are hosting a family picnic on August 14th. So expect to see a lot of progress including an 8' extension on our patio, a shed, clearing out and cleaning up overgrowth and maybe some other odds and ends.
The first project is clearing out the back of our lot. We got looking and realized that there is anywhere from 5-10 feet of additional lot for nearly the entire width of our lot.

I also need to clear some branches to allow for delivery of the shed. I think this will be my new best friend:

If you can't see it has metal blades for clearing brush. Hopefully this will make quick work of the job.

We started hacking into it on Tuesday. Didn't work on it for too long. I ran out of battery power for my recip saw.

We are going to work on it more tomorrow. Then Saturday I'll have a chainsaw and my Dad's truck to haul it away. Wonder how much that is going to cost.

That would be sweet, but there is some stuff we want to keep. Plus the neighbors wouldn't be too thrilled with that.

Can we get a mod to move this over to the "off-topic media"?
