R/T header ???

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

R/T header ???

Post by unleashedcc » Tue Oct 21, 2008 11:33 am

What will be the difference if someone swaps their SXT headers to an R/T? Is it worth it? Is it straight bolt on? Will it be noticeable with an UDP and full exhaust?

It will bolt up, but since the exhaust ports are larger on the Magnum head, you wouldn't be getting the full benefit of the larger manifold. It may still help slightly.

As far as stock mufflers go, yes.

I think this was misleading, as in he wanted to put SE/SXT exhaust mani onto an R/T head. That would be a bad mismatch of ports. It would run, but prolly worse than a standard head.
But I think Dante got it right. The Mag. header helps slightly on the standard head, changes the sound a little too.

:-k I didn't think about that. If you were to put a non-Magnum manifold on a Magnum head you would quickly lose whatever gains had been made with the other upgrades. Don't do that.

I hope he meant the other way around.

SXT headers to an R/T?
I didn’t know that the 2.0L I4 had headers. I know my car only has one HEADER!

Yeah, that's what I thought at first. But that would just be silly.

There is a slight difference, but it all bolts together.
