This car comes with a 3 month/3000 mile warranty because of it's age. Our local economy is lower than usual but we sell cars nontheless. There is a butt for every seat.TheRandom1 wrote:Highly doubtful. You are asking 7K for an economy car that is 7 years old and has no factory warranty (or at the very least is just barely within warranty if you got the 7 year 70K) at a time when the economy is in the royal shitter. I would say you'll get roughly 5K from it and I'm very rarely wrong about this type of thing.
BTW, nobody cares what options cost you 7 years ago. Not when you're trying to sell the car now and you have it listed without the option you specified. (You list it as a manual with o/d and you're telling me that atx was an $850 dollar option?
And just for grins... kbb.com lists that car in excellent condition should go for roughly $6,380 at a dealer. So from the get-go you're already high.
http://www.kbb.com/used-cars/dodge/neon ... eage=36160
An auto trans is an option there for cost more. I compared the price of a spoiler and fog lights to the cost of an automatic transmission option. You missed the point of my explanation of the comparison.
KBB does not play a factor in how a car is priced. It's an estimation of past sales and current sales. We based the price on past Neon sales and our average mark up on every vehicle plus reconditioning. We price many of our vehicles below KBB price and people always want to pay less and of course, they want retail price for their trade in as well.
As in every sale, everything is worth what someone is willing to pay. You don't think this car is worth the asking price. If we sell it for $5000, I'll be happy to tell you that you were right like you regularly are.
Sidepipe, the SRT was a "better buy" to you because you would rather have an SRT-4. The SRT-4 had a few eBay mods like fake coilovers, HIDs, neon lights, a Mopar BOV plate and a 2nd HKS bov, cheap aftermarket exhaust and such all through it. But it was a yellow (tough color to sell) and it's an 03 (open diff and at the age limit of to where most banks and credit unions are willing to purchase a vehicle on an auto loan). If I had my choice, I'd rather have this car over the SRT because of color alone. But, that's me.
Neon4life, you bought a current model year car with 24K on the clock for half the price of a new one? I'd say you got the best deal out there and I would have bought it too if everything checked out. 2004 was a good year for the economy as well.
heydockyle, My SXT sticker was $17,200 but it had the $3000 rebate as well. The 2003 SRT-4 base price was $19,995 plus delivery and any other dealer fees like "market adjustments" with no rebates. Local 2003's were going for $23,995 because of dealer mark up. It took about 6 months for the hype to die down for prices to get down to sticker on new vehicles. Unless you wanted to buy a "demo" SRT-4 that had 12,000 very hard miles on it. 2004, the base price went up because of the added Quaife that became standard issue and other little things they changed along the way. If you wanted the R/T style side air bag seats over the Viper seats, it was a $1500 option!

I know that SRT was hacked. I stopped and looked at it... Had a half assed turbo timer hanging inside, rusty ebay coils, exhaust, ripped/burns Vipers etc.TeckNeon wrote: Sidepipe, the SRT was a "better buy" to you because you would rather have an SRT-4. The turbo timer was left hanging there by the previous owner because he took out his XM radio at the last minute. The eBay coilovers were cheap eBay coilovers so of course they were rusty. The stock suspension springs were in the trunk. The "ripped/burned" Viper seats had one burn on them. They were fine. It was owned by someone who drove it for a little while then gave it to a younger family member who then modified it with cheap parts. It was a very decent car. It just needed some TLC to be brought back to original shape.sidepipe87 wrote:I know that SRT was hacked. I stopped and looked at it... If it was a total POS, we would have wholesaled it immediately. Choice Auto Sales in Murrysville wanted it very badly as they buy from us regularly. They were willing to put the extra effort into it to make it more marketable but then would have effectively sold it for more than our asking price. They sell a whole lot of SRT-4s down there.

Here is a Flame Red SRT-4 in central Indiana if anyone is interested. I did a short lookover this evening. The car needs some TLC (Back to Black on the "B" pillars; need to replace the belt mouldings as they are almost white in places; cowl and wiper arms may be beyond Armor All; driver's side fog light had water resting inside; etc.). Motor looked stock but valve cover and manifold had minor corrosion spots (
). Viper seats looked good for the mileage.
Ask for Scott Garner if you call (nice salesman- we had a good talk about SRTs and he was surprised to learn about a worldwide Neon club

My old car is already back up for sale:
http://chicago.craigslist.org/sox/cto/2365249465.html
Apparently I must have sold to a flipper instead of someone who would actually drive it.

Who knows. I saw my Lancer posted twice and my first Neon has already exchanged several hands. Dude who bought my Civic still has it though. In this area, people just flip cars a lot, it seems. I don't do it for the trade and fun, I did it because recently because I was searching for a car I liked and wanted to drive every day.

Kind of the same reason I bought the Blazer when I sold the Neon. I'm much more comfortable driving it than I was in the Neon. Sure the gas mileage drop sucks, as does the fact that the AC doesn't work and the trans is going bad, but I like it better. Also, I'll enjoy the 4x4 a lot more than the FWD once the trans is fixed.
