Don't take this the wrong way, but I have to say this for other peoples consideration.

Is there a reason for removing the air bag? Having been the passenger in a serious accident where the air bag possibly saved my life, I just don't see the reasoning to remove the passenger air bag. You can justify removing the driver air bag, since it's your life, but passengers deserve to be safe.

What if you're driving your mom/wife/child/relative somewhere and you have a head on collision?

Yeah, airbags saved my brother from serious injury, as the dumb shit wasn't wearing his seatbelt. I think it's common practice to put five-point harnesses in if you take the airbags out.

I could see it if the car was used for off hwy racing, and the space was needed for equipment, but then in that case looks aren't the #1 priority.

Well since nobody actually answered your question I'll do it. If everything is done the right way you shouldnt have any issues. I say its your car do what you want,, If the passenger dies from a side impact what good was the airbag... anywayz

1. first disconnect the battery at least 15 min before working on this.

2. raise the dash. there are 2 screws on the side and 1 on each side, also remove the passenger A pillar and lift the dash enough to see the screws that hold the airbag in place and remove those.

3. next remove your glove box, there are a few screws that hold it at the bottom and squeeze it out.

4. Now to remove the airbag there are 3 nuts(13mm i think). 2 are obvious at the bottom and 1 is right above at the top the back of the airbag module you will need a deep socket to get it.

5. When you get the nuts off the airbag will be able to be pulled off. Pull it out slowly cause there is a clip on the left side of it and you will need to disconnect it to get the airbag all the way off(its a squeeze clip)

do the reverse of all this to re-install

If you don't care about the air bag light or having a/c or radio, etc by all means strip out the extra relays, switches, fuses and wiring, it adds up quick. Every 100lbs shaved off can gain you a tenth in the quarter.

shouldn't maybe throw a few codes but nothing major like burning down the car. You could de pin the wires that you don't want directly at the ecu plug and pull them out of the harness from there.

never remove that bulb. you can use a 2 ohm resistor to tell trick the ecu.

easy: if you remove the buld - it cannot warn you anymore if drivers airbag has some problems.
(and somewhere else they said: when you remove an airbag and not jumper with 2 ohm resistor - the complete airbag system will not work as long as the bulb is on.)
do you really wanna try to find out that your driver airbag doesn't work anymore just cause you were to lazy to make it right?

Any neon over 45 mph is a death trap. Neons don't rank #1 in fatalities for no reason.

And that is why I'm very cautious when driving. I'm sure most of you have to avoid collisions everyday just like me, and that is always in the back of my mind. That and the fact that neons aren't worth much money, so if your car is totaled you might get enough for a down payment on another used car.

Side impacts are my worst fear, even if we had a curtain side air bag it won't help in a 50 mph side collision.
