srt clone whats your take?

I know this question has been discussed numerous times in much detail but I'm struggling with it myself.

I own all the pieces in my basement for a srt (hood, skirts, bumper) but the engine swap is going to be like 6 grand give or take.

My question is, do you think having all the components exterior wise of a srt but never the engine is consider ricey or cheesey?

I'm on the fence with it personally because I mean sure it can be "posing" but its not like i'll have srt badging and stuff.

Whats your take?

many people have done it. you will get a lot of people thinking you have an SRT which will just bring in more shit from certain crowds.

i know plenty who have done it....adionik for one...my entire exterior and most of my interior are swapped...and i get compliments all the time for it being a base model. its up to you man. i love mine. my car is quick enough for me and looks the way i want..

I kind of have mixed feelings about it.

I was given a LOT of shit and being slow as fuck does not help anything. It's one thing to be an SRT with all the horsepower to back it up, and another to look like one and not have shit.

I cannot bring myself to like the way neons look stock. I could own an SRT-D, but even that looks like the SRT-4 fascia. You get a lot of "is that an srt-4?" questions that make you feel like a moron for ever thinking about it.

So no...I don't think i'd ever do it again. Either own an SRT-4 or dont' look like one. *shrugs*

BTW I have full SRT-4 interior with SRT struts, better sway bars, stock SRT pod with gauge. Cool as hell for a daily drive though

IF it makes you happy, the buy all means build a "replica" * I hate the word clone* SRT, mix and match parts, customize, build it the way YOU want it, so if one dick says, man your a dumbass for have a base model with SRT trim, hes an idiot, so what if you are slow, some like my self care about going fast first, then comes body kits, paint etc. Some like your self care about looks first, speed second. Its all a matter of opinion,

I have all the exterior SRT stuff on my car because I simply prefer the styling of the SRT to everything else out there.
I don't claim my car is an SRT, I don't race, I hang out with supportive people who don't care what I do to my car, and if anyone asks about my car i'm more than willing to tell them about it.

If you've spent the money to acquire all this SRT stuff, then you obviously wanted to do the swap at some point. If you want to do it, go ahead. It's a god damn neon, you're not molesting a piece of automotive history.

IMO, if it's a look that you like then go for it. Me personally, I think I am steering towards the sleeper look. Besides the fact that my car is pretty much slammed now (it looks lower than 1.8inches IMO lol), I don't plan on doing much else to the exterior. I do want a turbo and I have wanted the SRT body, but for some reason I like how some of the sleepers look on this forum.

All in all, you decide. It's your car. YOU decide what you want done to it. If you like the SRT look, but are afraid of what people may think, then don't do it. If you like the look, but don't care what people think because YOU like the look.. then go for it!

I think I'm done... lol.

to be honest opi all i have is my garage pic because my car is stock and i think its absolutely retarded to throw pics around of a completely stock car.

thats why i don't put up pics. its a modified car forum, not a hey look at my stock POS neon.

anywho yes i ask a shitload of questions because i like cars and i like to see what others think. I didn't think it was a big deal asking questions and seeing how others saw things in the neon community. Sorry for being interested instead of brash and walking around saying hey look at me.

If you want them on your car....put them on there! You are never going to please everyone with what you do to your car. But then again that shouldn't be the reason that you are building it. You should build it to your tastes. Like others have said you must have wanted to do it because you bought all the parts. So put em on there! (Just please make sure they are color matched first).

If I listened to people when I was painting my car, the car never would have gone pink. But.....I build it, and modify it, for me. Sometimes I post up what people think about certain things, but thats mostly to reassure my own thoughts, or to get other ideas that I may not be seeing.
