Headphones

Post by racer12306 » Fri Nov 14, 2008 10:31 am

I am looking to get a GOOD set of headphone. Over the ear style, I think that is what it is called. Full head phones, not the ones that wrap around your ear or ear buds

I want good sound quality, noise cancellation and good construction.

I'm fully expecting to spend ~$100 or a little more, but I want a good set for plane rides. Drown out the little shits that have incompetant parents and think its a good idea to scream for an entire 4 or 6 hour flight

I figure Bose would be a good one to go with, but if there are others that are as good or better for a similar cost then those are good options too.

^ they carry a lot of products from that brand at Best Buy, too. my friend has a pair of over-the-ear style and they are pretty nice. also, his has a random bottle opener that slides into the part that wraps over your head.

don't go bose, they're over-rated
you can do MUCH MUCH better than skull candy. those seem to be the new trend lately

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6826106328

sroll down and look at the combo deal. 2 headphones for the price of one.

amazing sound quality, and exactly what you're looking for i think.

actually, bose isn't even good. they're a complete,y 100% over-rated brand. they USED to be top of the line, until they started to cheap out over the years. they sell like hot cakes still just because of word-of-mouth and everyone knows the name.

you can do SO much better than anything bose related for the money they ask.

and franks JOB is flying everywhere. so no money saved for that trip

Yeah, I travel a lot for my job and it will only increase as one of the guys in my department is retiring.

I looked at www.skullcandy.com and didn't see a headphone for less than $70. Maybe I was at the wrong site.

I really like the look of the Sennheiser. Great reviews, and if I buy them soon enough 2 for 1. I'm a hair concerned about the tightness on my head, as some people mentioned it was a big problem. But I can buy them and return them if I need to.

Thanks for the info.

Any other suggestions. These are looking to be the way to go. I missed the 2 for 1 deal, but thats not too big of a deal.

Bose quiet comforts are more around 2-300 aren't they?
I had a pair of Sure E2C earphones. I know they aren't quite what you are looking for, but they were absolutely incredible. I had never heard actuall bass out of an earphone before. The thing that I liked about them is they have interchangeable sleeves, so you can put on foam "squishy" sleeves that are compareable to ear plugs. They do an amazing job of not cancelling noise, but blocking it.

I loved those earphones...and then they were stolen out of my desk at work last weekend. Fu**ing thieves.

I've had my Bose Quiet Comfort 2 and their standard around the ear headphones for several years now for either when I'm traveling or just listening to music at my computer.... I love them. My Quiet Comforts have broken a few times but I just take them back to the Bose store and they give me a new set without any probs. Each time they seem to refine the design a little more to make them sturdier.

Holy crap, I am actually ready to buy a set now that debt is gonna be gone and a little will be left over to buy a few things because of tax returns.

I go to newegg and the HD 280 Pro's are $200 now, I almost shit myself. So I looked around and found them for $100 at Crutchfield. AND I BOUGHT EM

With a little luck they will be here monday because I fly to New Hampshire on Tuesday. It's possible because IIRC they are in Virginia, I know I've ordered stuff from there and got it really quick before.

Meh, whats another $100 on the credit card when its getting paid off soon

You have to shop around for headphone prices. I got a pair of Skullcandy Full Metal Jackets for $25 on WhiskeyMilitia.com the other day. They retail for $70. No way are they worth $70. $40 maybe but not $70. Besides, me listening to some crappy compressed music file on my iPhone does not need to be a life changing experience. But for $25, they are great for a relaxing couch trip or a run on the treadmill.

I looked around a little more and found them for $75 after I bought them, but I also don't know what that place charges for shipping. Plus I had never heard of them. I've ordered many things from Crutchfield in the past with awesome results.

Update for anyone interested.

These are the most comfortable headphones ever. Well worth the $100.

They block out a lot of noise and sound really good. I have worn these for 4 and 5 hours at a time on flights.

I had the Beats by Dre ones too for mixing, and they were the best I have ever owned. Wish I still had em.
