OK guys. I have the stock shifter with boogers installed. I now have a mopar srt-4 sts that i want to install. What is the best way to take out the booger bushings? I figure it might be hard since they were such a tight squeeze to begin with.

i did this already, obviously the ones under the battery tray dont come out. anyway, TRUST ME - cut out the one on the passenger side, you WILL break the plastic piece on the shift linkage which is very $$$(because the linkage has to be replaced. either that or you buy a kit off of srtforums that a member made if you do happen to break it. its just a dye to cut new threads on the linkage and a new piece to connect to the linkage). then remove the nut on the driver side shifter linkage and pop the shifter assembly out. at this point, you still have a booger bushing on the driver side of the shifter, but its much easier to remove it once the shifter is out of the car... you just need like 3 screwdrivers and an extra set of hands to pop it off.
reinstall in the opposite order obviously. contact jeff (booger bushings) about getting a single bushing. i was lucky enough to have one sent to me for free by him when i cut the one out... jeff's a cool guy (thanks!)

What he said... just cut it out and don't risk trying to save it... if you snap your cable you'll have to buy the kit which will take time to get to you. Or you'll have to buy the whole new linkage set and that costs about $110. Their not hard to put in but just a PITA to have to order just because of one little snap in the cable.
