Remote start

Post by gr8whtd0pe » Fri Nov 21, 2008 10:39 am

Whats the best remote start for our cars?

I have an 02, with the grey key. I want one that replaces the remote all together. Does power locks, trunk and all that jazz with out having to buy a buch of add ons. I don't really need an alarm either.

suggestions?

I have no suggestions other than this belongs in electrical/security :)
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

I'm guessing since you have the FAT grey key as opposed to the thin black key you have skim? If you do, this could be a tougher problem to get around since I don't know how people could start a car to steal it with skim...

The easiest thing to do would be to get an all-in-one type package that has remote lock/unlock, panic, alarm, remote start, trunk pop, etc. I had a friend with a Cherokee who had a viper kit. I'll have to ask him if he had the skim module on his...

Won't nessecerily work....because I believe the key has to actually make contact with the ignition....but they sell something to make it work, where you put your un-cut chipped key in this little box, and it makes the skim think the key is in the ignition....I believe this box is wired into the current electrical system

its called a 556UW and is made by DEI

Like I said, I'm not 100% so now I will go on with your advice as well....

the post I was refering to gaining my knowlge from is below.....the key part in bold.........the rest of the post is a response to a question of mine for going keyless... viewtopic.php?t=35367
Craz1000 wrote:most of it is written already on the stickey. the only difference is how to wire everything which ill show you here

ok on a relay your going to have 5 prongs they are numbered as follows, 30, 85, 86, 87, 87a

now with the switch this is how each wire that is an ACC, or IGN wire is going to be wired to the relay. ALSO if you have 2 12v constants which i think you do one constant will power the ACC and the others will power the IGN's. you must use 2 switches and have one control your ignition circuits and one for accesory to fully simulate the key and to prevent damage to your accesories.

1) ok at the switch run one line to ground and the other line to #85 to each relay you want to trigger.

2) wire your ACC and IGN wires to a seperate 12v wire and tie these to both #86 AND #87 on each relay; if you have only 1 12v constant wire then its ok too

3) cut the wire being relayed, the side going to the key cylender goes to #87a and the one going toward the engine goes to #30

4) the button is wired the exact same way and it MUST be tied to the same 12v source as your IGN set of relays

Transponder Bypass 556UW:
wire it accodingly and use your IGN circuits to power the box

Starting Procedure:
flip your IGN switch to ON, start the car, flip your ACC switch.

Shutting down:
flip your ACC first and when you flip your ign your car will shut off.

dont forget to fuse your new lines also
