spacers or beating the strut(beating it?!?)

hey guys i just read a topic where someone bought some rims for his neon but the tires were too big and they were rubbing on the strut so he jacked up his car and took a hammer and beat it to where the tire wont rub anymore. is that safe and effective or dangerous? it seems like a nice way out of buying srt4 struts!? ive also heard of spacers you can get, but will regular washers work too??

worthless i have never seen this done but i would just buy struts!!

IMO, it is dangerous and shouldn't be done.

If you are going to use spacers, get real wheel spacers, they aren't that much money iirc.
