COILOVERS!

Post by patiofurnituregt » Sun Nov 23, 2008 9:21 pm

I was planning on buying some coilovers and have settled on getting some BC's based on research and what I have heard from a couple people. I was originally thinking of getting Megans but found out their valving isn't that good and go out just after a year.....

I wanted to see what coilovers people are running?
How long have you been running them?
Do you do any auto-x, how do they handle?
And your opinions of them, quality, range of adjustment?

I know this wont help But I am getting a set of mopar stage 3 coilover. I know they dont give you a low drop but you get some pretty good handling.

I didn't like the mopar S3 because they don't have a lower perch adjustment for ride height which sucks. That and the eibalchs are the same, in that they dont have independent perch vs. strut adjustment so you cant lower you car without losing stroke or adjusting preload.

I'm runnin BCs
oooooooooh about 6 months now. Firm ride, handles pretty good. I run into minor issues with skipping on bumpy corners if I power too much. I also noticed at the least a 5mph increase in maintaining speed on corners on the street from my eibach sportlines and KYBs. The ride is better than the KYBs and sportlines.

I'm as slammed as sportlines if not a smidge more. I have to go slow as hell over speed bumps and hard bumps on the free way are hard period.

One other downside that I've run into is that Ive had to take my car to race shops to get the alignment done.

Cant' think of anything else at the moment.

Oh... Corner Balanced 50/50 side to side 63/37 front to back with a -1.5 front camber -1.75 rear camber 0 toe.

3.5" ride height at first pinch weld with a 1.5" rake to the rear pinch weld at 5".

currently running TEIN SS dampeners on my 02 R/T with full Energy Suspension bushings. LOVE IT! haven't really had any issues with it since the install Feb 08...though I only drove it less than 5000km last summer.

Ordered BC coilovers and Prothane full bushings for the 1gn ACR last week. they should be here by this weekend. once they're in, I'll let you know how they feel.

I've had the NEX SS setup for about 40k and they are pretty good for a bargin Coilover. I havent had any trouble with them.

The bad part is that they don't have a dampening adjustment tho the GT version does but its only has 4 different settings.
