question about the srt4 swapping

Post by refect » Sun Aug 28, 2005 3:17 pm

what does it take to get it to run? i have been told when you do the swap you need to replace the steering rack as well because of the sensor key. but i was also told you can get a stage 1 pcm and reflash it and it will bypass the sensor key. or if you get srt4 ecu reflashed it will work fine as well. anyone who has done the swap or knows about it know what needs to be done in order to get it to turn on?

I am running the SRT swap w/stage 1.

I also swapped the Sentry module/ring from the ignition and use the SRT key to start the car.......a little annoying having one key for the doors/trunk, and another key for the ignition....but oh frikkin well.

awesome thanks man. i just bought a whole srt4 engine setup. along with the dash harness, because i was told you need to replace it as well. how hard was all the wireing? did most the plugs match up pretty smooth or was there a lot of splicing and what not?

Well, if you are lazy and don't want to run your own power/ground/vac lines for the boost gauge........you will need the dash harness......But if you can run your own lines for the boost gauge...you won't need it.

I ran my own lines for the boost gauge, and I used my stock 2000 ES dash and body harnesses.

As far as wiring......pretty much everything was plug and play....hopefully you will have everything you need for your swap. I would definately say that having a whole donor car makes the swap much easier b/c it has everything you need.

im a bit confused now. so basically you are saying that replacing the dash ahrness with an srt4 dash harness is not needed and that the stock 2000 harness will match up fine with everything else. minus a boost guage. does it matter if its an atx?

If you get an SRT powerplant, most of them come with the 5 speed tranny
If you dont get a trans with the motor, the motor will turn that 3 speed to shreds with all the power

That is correct.

My car WAS a 2000 ES ATX, now has 03 SRT powerplant and SRT MTX.......kept my body and dash harnesses, and used the SRT engine harness....

hey josh, why didn't you change out the door/trunk lock also? then you would only need one key
