My check engine light pops on on me this morning pulling out of the drive to work. I check the code when I get to work and I get the 0455 code. I check and see what it is then go out to check my gas cap. I must have forgotten to tighten it up cause it was almost off. I tighten it up a few hundred clicks and go for a ride. The check engine light still shines and when I get to where I
m going, I check the codes again and the same code pops up.
Is there some way I need to clear this code without disconnecting the battery or is that the only way? I'm assuming I don't have a leak anywhere else for this code to keep popping up. Should I disconnect the battery just to reset it and see if it does it again?
Clearing CEL?

Or you could just key off while coasting a bunch of times. Just enough to kill the engine, but not to where the steering locks! Usually after 30 times it will clear the CEL. The engine will fire right back up and the PCM will go through the start sequence as if it had been started. I have done this before with success, mainly because I didn't feel like unhooking the battery. This will work well if you have a smog test soon. The PCM retains it's readyness for testing. Unhooking the battery will require some time to get all the "monitors" to set. Until they are set it won't pass inspection. I do it over a few trips to the store/whatever, as finding a stretch other than the hwy to do this is limited, plus not a good idea if there is a lot of traffic. 30-35 mph is prolly fast enough for the trans to keep the engine turning with an ATX, and keeps things smooth with an MTX.

Probably shouldn't listen to anything your penis says, that guy's a dick.
Too much time spent here is a sign of a bad case of Ownaneonvirus.Patience, of course, is a very powerful weapon, but sometimes I start to regret that it is not a firearm.

Nope, leave it in gear, key off, key on. Engine starts right back. No need to worry about unburned fuel, as the injectors shut off when the key is off. It will work in either ATX or MTX. ATX may not work at speeds below 20 mph tho. As long as there is enough rpm's to keep the clutches/TC spinning, the engine keeps spinning. Just be careful not to completelt turn the key to where the steering locks!!!

that sounds like anything but safe. if you have a code reader it should have some sort of setting to clear the cel. if not just wait a few normal cycles (5-10) and see if the light is gone. if it persists you can always go to autozone or a similar place where they offer free cel code reading and they should be able to reset it.
