i have one of those sitting next to me waiting for spring, along with the ktx-h100 and pxa-h100. i am hoping the sq with all 3 is better than it was with the x-001 i had earlier this year (and sold).

i have an ida-x100 sitting right next to me. yes, the ktx and pxa both work with the x100. i am looking forward to playing with the software in the spring, but it has a lot to live up to for me to be happy with the sound. right now i love the sound i have but i am always buying and selling pieces to play with.

Having the ipod connected thru the deck is so nice...itd be even sweeter to keep a hard drive in the glove box using the usb...you could have every song ud ever want.
btw...has anyone heard the Imprint sound processing yet? Ive heard its utterly amazing but i dont want to spend the $ to get the software for it.

there are 2 parts to make the imprint work, not just software. he pxa-h100 is the imprint processor that stays in the car attached to the radio. the ktx-h100 is the mic and software you have to install on a computer which will do the auto-tuning of the system. the auto-tuning is pretty good but every review i have read said it require more tweaking by the user.
it is the same processing that is built-in to the 9887.

so by having the 9887 u do not need the imprint system? u just need the mic?

looks sweet! I have the same one sitting downstairs waiting for Christmas for me to open up hehe. I'm going to mount my iPod in the center console in the little spot in the front that is the perfect size for an iPod. I'm really excited to put this thing in.

the 9887 has all the features and abilities of the pxa-h100 built into the unit already. you can change all the settings as you wish with no further purchases. if you want to use the auto-tuning feature of the imprint system along with the external software you need to purchase the KTX-100EQ.
honestly, if someone is shelling out the $350-400 for a 9887 they probably know how to measure and set everything already and are running an active 2 or 3 way system. if not they are wasting money on a hu with more features than they need.

But isnt the imprint not just "tuning" but it delays the speakers closer to you so the sounds seem like theyre centered around you?

you are talking about digital time alignment, which is part of tuning a system.
i will say it one more time - the IMPRINT kit will auto-tune your system for you. the 9887 has all the controls built in to manually tune the system. the 9886 and x100 and few other models require the external processor (pxa-h100) to be able to do this.
