Get an additional transmission cooler, make sure that tranny fluid is always fresh and order a solid insert for the transmission mount....or fill it with urethane (What I should've done)
FWD performance sells them for the ATX neons

A little background on your ATX.

Probably shouldn't listen to anything your penis says, that guy's a dick.

You're best bet is to call Level 10, they are the best out there. I'm not sure if they have anything available though. A higher stall torque converter is probably your best bet.
An old school racer trick is to get shorter tires, it's just like putting shorter gears in the trans. I would recommend lightweight rims also, preferably 15's or 16's. Decreasing unsprung weight makes a very noticeable difference.

The ATX in '02-'05 neons is an A604 or also called 40te and 41te. 41te is a better version for strength, but it is prolly not too common in neons. As for shift kits you would need to modify the TCM part of your PCM to make it shift harder. Which if you can crack that one, you would be a hero. See my above post.DOSneons wrote:i was lookin for a shift kit for mine but i wasnt sure what the code for the tranny was

Are you sure it's the A604? If so there should be some options, unless it's differently designed or something.
The A604 in the avenger/sebring have a few mods available:
Trans-go shift kit
Road Rage gears (shorter final drive gear)--they were installing them without removing the trans, can't remember how though.
Level 10 should be able to bulletproof the trans, I know a few members had it done.
I believe it was level 10 that offered a higher stall torque converter as well.

From the fist paragraph of the link I posted....Donkeypuncher wrote:Are you sure it's the A604? .
The Chrysler 41TE, 40TES, and 41TES automatic transmissions (transaxle)
Introduction by Bob Sheaves
The A604 was the start of a new generation of automatic transmissions for Chrysler Corporation. It was the first electronically shifted hydraulic automatic transmission that used "fuzzy" logic to learn the driver's habits and to learn to adapt its shifting pattern to match the expected driver "request" (meaning the computer learned to vary the harshness and speed of the shifts to adapt to the driver, instead of the driver learning to adapt to the transmission shift points).

Disturbing motorsports carries the gears and torque converter http://catalog.disturbingmotorsports.co ... h=1_2_6_36
The stratus final drive gear is supposed to be similar to the road rage gears, not sure which year model are the ones to get though.
The gears will throw the speedometer reading off by 10mph or so. I'm still not sure if there are any differences between the the older and newer model a604's, so I couldn't say if everything bolts up the same
