Cylinder Misfires and Scariness under the valve cover

Post by slow2.0ts13 » Wed Dec 17, 2008 10:16 am

Okay about a week ago I got a check engine light for low system oil pressure. This has happened before to me. My pickup in the oil pan gets clogged with crap. I also had a small pinhole leak in my pan so I replaced the screen in the pick up as well as the pan. Everything was running fine for a few days until one day on the park way i got a cylinder 4 misfire code at about 60 mph. I went home and tried to check #4's plug and it was seized inside the head, wonderful. I took it to the shop and the idiot who had the car before me had the wrong size plugs in. My mechanic had to re-do some coil's to get normal plugs back in. He took the valve cover off and took a picture. This was the most nastiest shit I have ever seen, caked in oil burnt on oil and sludge. I have replaced the oil every 3-4k with full synthetic
oil. I guess the person before me never changed the oil. damnit! Now with all this crap in my engine what would be the best way to take care of it? My mechanic said the car is running fine and not to worry about it. But I am. Can I clean it? Seamfoam it? I need some help...

Treat the engine with Auto RX, it works well. Do the sludge application treatment.

Seafoam will work as well, just make sure you don't run the car too hard when it's in your oil, since its going to be stirring up quite a bit of burnt oil/deposit that has built up. And Most importantly, change your oil once you are done using whichever chemical you use. Most tell you to drive for an hour, and then drain the oil+ change the filter.
New Sig Time.
