If you can trade straight up, then it's no contest. But if you have no mechanical ability whatsoever and would have to pay someone else to repair all of these problems, then you may not want to.
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

If you really have your heart set on the trade, spend $150, or so, and take it to a dealer. Let them go completely through it with the diagnostics, to get a firm idea of what it actually needs. Might be the best money you spend. I'm not saying let them fix it, just give you an estimate. Then you will know where you stand.
