For those who have Megasquirted, does this look familiar?

These are pictures of the so called fuel controller that came with the PT SC kit. The manufactuere states it is not reprogramamble. To me it looks very similar to the Megasquirt unit, same processor,map sensor....
This unit is designed to control the single 50lb/hr injector for extra fuel and control other aspects of the pcm by piggy backing.

The wiring pinouts can be found in the PDF document posted above.Any info from anyone on wether I can tap into this unit would be greatly apreciated...

That's not quite the same processor as what MS uses. I can't read the model number on the processor but it looks like a MC68HC811. MegaSquirt (MSI) uses a MC68HC908.

Regardless, the 68HC811 microprocessor is programable. You just need a serial programmer to talk to it.

Depending on what you want to use it for, this particular piece of hardware may or may not be usefull to you.

yes, very similar. i don't see why you can't use a programmer to tap into its functionality for your use. however, i'm wondering if the different processor is capable of everything the standard MS processor is...

thats why im asking you guys...
It looks as if there is a postion to install a serial port at the one end of the main board hidden by a white decal. The pins that are already on the board do not look like they are of any standard pinout so I can't just attach a serial or parrallel port adapter to it. I have considered installing a serial port onto the mainboard and installing megasquirt software onto my main pc to see if I can read anything off the controller...

The MC68HC811 series microcontroller is more powerfull and has more fuctionality than the processor used for MSI. (it's more comparable to the MSII processor)

Unless there is an RS232 serial com controller hiding in one of the other ICs on that board, you will need an external controller for reprogramming. Plus you'll need access to the code that is already written to that processor too.

You won't be able to read anything meaningful off that processor using MegaTune software. I'm sure the formatting is completely different. The only way to reprogram it will be to obtain the existing code that's written to the controller, then edit it and reburn it.

The only other way would be to wipe it and start from scratch. That would be way more work than it's worth though, because you'd have to completely reverse engineer the system architecture.

The bottom line: unless you can use this controller in its current state, you'd be better off just throwing it away and getting a MS.

The one end thats missing a connector, thats a VGA pinout...
I'm starting to wonder now if the 20pin header is for a serial,PS/2 connector...
