Hey from CT

Post by my87csx481 » Tue Jan 06, 2009 12:54 pm

Hi all. New to 2GN but not to 4-banger mopars....been driving 'em since the '80's.

Currently daily driving a completely stock (except tire size) '05 SXT, mtx, no abs. Had it since new, 80k on the clock. I MUST do something with the brakes and I plan to do something with the suspension....at the very least.

I autocross the car locally and participated in a couple track day/time trials at the Poconos (1 north, and 1 south course)....it is my dream to someday race on road courses. Unfortunately, due to health problems/medical bills, I haven't been able to do any "racing" since ~june '08. Hopefully, mid-'09 I should be all set to go again and start improving the car....and myself.

I registered here because another forum I found seemed directed more toward 1st gens. So, here I am....seeking 2nd gen racing specific information (brakes and suspension....for now).

Just wondering, seems there is no road course/track subforum, only drag, street, and autocross. Is there anyone that tracks their car on here? Just wondering.

Edit: added pics

Hmm, I thought we had changed the Autox/Rally section to include Road Racing, but I guess not.

Either way, welcome to the forum. You don't have to be nice about the other forum, we know which one you are talking about

Welcome! Glad to see another 80's FWD old-timer

There are a few members who auto-x their Neons. Boneyard racing is one that come to mind. With some time I hope to start campaigning mine as well.

There is a wealth of info available here. If you don't see it right off, use the search function for some key-words. If all else fails, ask.

Enjoy your stay with us

Oh, and I'll be the first...:ttiwwp:
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

I'll try to get some pics up tonight....I'm at work now.

I tried to swipe my avatar from another forum but, it's too big for here. I'll try to get to resizing tonight.

Thanks for the welcome.

For me, it's all about the adrenaline. Autocross and normal street driving just don't do it for me at all.

I added pics to the first post.

Digging the thingumybobs on the headlights in the Auto-X pics- makes the car look posessed. Welcome!

Welcome to 2gn.

Props for racing your Neon. Think your car handles good now? You just wait until you get your suspension upgraded

We have to tape all forward facing glass/plastic....makes cleanup easier if theres some contact. I agree, I remember thinking the blue painter's tape made the headlights look pretty wild in the rain.
