Recall...

I just got the mail at my parents house and there was a card from dodge saying there is a recall on my dads car, an 05 sxt. Its says"Recall: 983 Brake Booster Vacuum Hose". Just figured I'd let you guys know.

You may want to check that card again. That recall only applies to this...

2000-2001 (PL) Dodge and Plymouth Neon
NOTE: This recall applies only to the above vehicles equipped with a:
2.0L engine (“C” in the 8th VIN Position) built through March 21, 2001
(MDH 0321XX) or a
2.0L High Output engine (“F” in the 8th VIN Position) built through
April 11, 2001 (MDH 0411XX).

What does (MDH 0321XX) refere to I assume it is the last six?

Well I guess thats what i get for assuming. I didnt even think about it, but he bought my car from the same dealer. So, the recall is on my car. Im on my phone now at work, when i get home I'll edit my original post.

wow...thats an old recall, i got that one years ago, a little suprised you just got it, maybe they are notifying people that didnt get it done the first time.

Sometimes you'll get recall notices after the title transfers to your name. They do this just in case the original owner ignored or never got the recall notice. You're more likely to get the notices if you buy from a dodge dealer.

Usually when the work is performed, the VIN is entered and that vehicle taken off the list. If it hasn't been previously done it remains open, so when the car is reregistered a new notice is sent. It may take a while tho. I have bought from private parties and still gotten recall notices. But it would prolly help more through a dealer. But a good dealership will check it for needed recalls/TSb's before listing for sale. It only helps their image as the car will likely have less problems that may be associated with them.

The card an everything was in his name, but the cars all in mine. Idk, I'll give them a call and see what they say. Couldn't hurt getting it done, thing is I don't want them to find anything else wrong and charge me to fix it.

They can't do anything unless you authorize the work

When I've had recall work done, they have basically repaired it, and got it out of the way. Recall/warranty work used to/maybe still does pay only 50% of the labor. The technician pays for the factory's mistake. When I worked at a Chevy dealer years ago, the new guys got all the warranty stuff.

Yea warranty work blows. Less flat rate hours AND at a reduced pay rate.
