New to the 2gn

Post by nhlsdominator » Mon Jan 12, 2009 3:04 pm

So I've never posted my car on this website or for any one actually. Mind you it's still not finished but here are some pictures of before and after.

Planning and finishing some things by the end of the week. I'll post pic's when it happens.

I'm not the best photographer either. Just point and shoot.

Before:

After:

HOLY 4x4 BATMAN! I know, you guys dont have to tell me.

Plans:

-Remove side molding (saturday)
-Install Side Skirts (saturday)
-Repaint taillights, 3rd brake, and side markers candy black
-Black out front grill
-Lightly tint headlights with candy black
-Lower it

Any criticism welcome as well as compliments! Thanks for looking.

18" TSW Thruxton sitting on 215/35/18 Kuhmo Tires. I'll have to look up online exactly what kind of tires they are.

Welcome :D

Let's see...you have addressed the most common things that the folks here will tell you to do...good job

I was in the same boat as you a year ago. I hadn't ever posted to a forum, hadn't posted pics before, and just had a cell phone for a camera. It's amazing how quickly things change when you give into the addiction that is modifying a Neon

Enjoy your stay!

Thanks man. I'll keep updating as things progress. Should have some pictures up this weekend of the lip done and I'm crossing my fingers that my painter can get my tails and sides done as well.

That's what I said! lol It'll get fixed.

I'll probably springs with stock shocks and front/rear sways for now. I would change the struts to get bigger tires, but I can only do so much at one time and forking over another 500 for tires won't do it.

Either Eibach Sportlines or Tein S-Techs.

Sportlines bring the ass down more than the S-Techs so it all comes down to buy day and what I'm feeling. I have a raised driveway for city drainage, so it might be difficult.

Just had to as well

Looks good, but in my opinion you should NOT black out the front grille. Look around here, some people have done that or just cut them out and it looks kinda goofy. I would either leave it as is or look for a fog light bumper. Other than that, address the 4x4 issue (i'm still getting there on mine too) don't tint the chromie headlights, get a set of black housing headlights from eBay, like the ones Teejmeister made for his car, and I think an AVS spoiler would look good on there. Just my suggestions. Moar pix with sideskirts on plz. kthnx!

Oh yeah, and start early saturday. Neither of those mods are particularly hard, but can be a little time consuming with all the measuring twice and cutting once stuff.

I say that if you can afford the wheel/tire package you have, you can afford to dump a lil more into your suspension components. I honestly don't care for Eibachs OR Teins, but that's my opinion. I'd honestly get some Progress Technology springs. They give a 1.8" drop front/rear and it's an even drop. Also I suggest upgrading your struts with Tokico HP's. That setup will give you a killer stance to your sweet Neon!

Hell yeah. I'll look those up now. I appreciate all the feedback and everything. Glad I have some people on my side unlike the rents who think anything but stock is a sin.

"What do you need rims for when you have wheels on there?"
"Do you need to get new tires with the rims because theres brand new tires on your car now"
"Lower it? That doesn't make any sense. Why would someone want to do that?"

Parents just dont understand sometimes..

i hear it from my dad too... and he's a 'car guy'. He's a tech at a chrysler/jeep/dodge dealer but he doesn't really get it. Although I think he actually digs my car now, he just won't actually tell me that haha

Holy offset batman, is it just me or are those rims sticking out like a half inch? and what width are those wheels 7", because those 215's look almost stretched on there, (and I know their a 35 series)

Car looks real good otherwise.

+35 offset on a 18x8 rim. It looks like they stick out and thats what I was worried about at first, but it sits flush to the wheel well. And the tires aren't stretched at all.

Thanks for all the kind words guys. I'll be sure to update this thread with moar piktars as things get finished.

It does stick out. The width is 2" larger than stock, which means that with a similar offset, the wheel is basically sticking out an extra 1" on each side.
