Overheating Neon once again

Post by m2736185 » Wed Jan 28, 2009 6:02 pm

Its great how I have to deal with my old neon's problem even when its not mine anymore. So I sold my 00 MTX neon for $900 and a week later the person comes back to me telling me its overheating and cant be driven.

Well it did have a leak from one of the core plugs right under the headers, but that was fixed after I added one of those radiator fix liquids. It seems like coolant is being forced out of the overflow reservoir and spilling onto the headers. As for the coreplug...how hard is that to replaced? the headers proly have to be removed in order to take it out right?

One new problem the exhaust seems to be smelling like oil.. any ideas?

Did you offer free mechanic service for the vehicle when you sold it?

If not, then this guy is on his own. His car now, his problem.

Not your problem.

If the car was sold as is, which is more than likely then its not your problem.

Tell him, I'm sorry that happened to the car. Good luck getting it repaired and hopefully it will be reasonably priced.

Plus you sold a drivable car for $900, awesome deal.

at one time last year i kept overheating. I thought it was a just the thermostat. What it ended up being was one of the hoses that connects to the themostat housing has a small pin needle hole which leaked under pressure. You will maybe see your coolant color or wetness near the manifold if this is happening. I had to just replace the hose which is pretty cheap but the labor is slightly costly cause half the motor basically needs to be taken off. but it was under $80 to fix i believe.

That is why you ALWAYS write up a receipt stating "Sold As Is"
If you did that, hopefully you made a copy for yourself....

Remind the buyer that they bought it for NINE HUNDRED DOLLARS. Tell them what you've fixed, and recommend what they do to fix it, but I would not feel obligated at all to fix that.
