What bulbs to go with my Mpx HALO's?

Post by Mopar65 » Wed Feb 04, 2009 11:02 am

I finally got some money and now Im going to get my HALO Projectors from modern performance, but I dont know what bulbs to go with. Are the stock ones yellow and make the angels eyes yellow? If I get the super whites which one do I go for? Feel free to post up opinions and pictures. Thanks

Mike

If I go with the Super White though it will make the angel eyes look like that blueish/white like on their site right?

Wrong section. I have heard mix reviews about upgraded bulbs, but many people do the HID conversion as well.

HIDs or bust!

(I'd be leary of putting an 80W bulb in there)

From the research I've done so far the 80W will melt stuff, so I'd say you should stay away...

I think the 55 Watt's might be the way to go, but I dont know if I want to upgrade to HID right now.

Well Im buying the headlights, buying a new hood, getting an SRT steering wheel installed, painting some parts of the car, and general maintenance so there isnt really a lot of money for HIDs right now :banghead:

The headlight bulbs themselves have no effect on the halos and their color. They have LEDs in them. They'll look like this if you hook them up...

Do the halos look blue in real life, or is that just the camera doing that?

They're almost that blue, they're extremely white. The halos aren't quite as bright as they look though. The picture is pretty close to real life though.

Yeah really. That's what I was thinking. Silverstars and HIDs shouldn't cost the same price.

They're more like $40 + $45 shipping. They're pretty cheap kits, but tons of people have used them (see srtforums.com) without any complaints. They also have fast 2 - 3 day shipping.

EDIT: Typos

I just got the 04 version of the halo lights. im or the opinion that the 55 watt artic whites are indeed whiter than stock but they dont throw at all, so id suggest saving the 30 bux for the extra lights and throw it towards hids later.
and IF you get the vvme kit you may want to grab a relay harness too from theretrofitosurce.com $30 bux more + shipping

I changed the halos and put ccfl rings instead much brighter and very visible during the day. I will post pics soon.

Thats what I've been using. They've worked great so far. I did have one ballast fail after 1year of using. They said I could have paid $20 for them to ship me a replacment under warranty, or ship the defected one to them and get one for free.

I just payed 35 for their double replacement pack to have a spare. It still cost less all together than a "high end" hid kit.

Even if they do cost the same as silverstars, there is still a lot more involved with them.
