Hows your brake fluid?
If it's low there is either a leak in the system or its time to replace your pads.

The PCM has no way of sensing oil level. Only oil pressure.
Is your ebrake released? That will cause a chime.

Being low on oil would equal low oil pressure ...OB wrote:crashpaq wrote: I thought maybe it was low on oil but it is not...

Re: bell tone on takeoff.
If the oil level was low enough to cause a severe pressure drop, the engine would already be toast.Passt wrote:Being low on oil would equal low oil pressure ...OB wrote:crashpaq wrote: I thought maybe it was low on oil but it is not...

You really shouldn't have added to your brake reservoir. You need to check your brakes. Brake fluid doesn't go anywhere and unless you bleed (or boil the fluid) you shouldn't ever have to add fluid.crashpaq wrote:i checked the brake fluid and it was a little low so i added some to it and the sond has not come back.
Thanks
If I had extra money to bet, I would be that your brakes are shot or damn near close.
And now that you have added to it, when you push the piston back in it will come flowing out the cap and make a nice mess.

Every time you let off the brake the fluid rushes back, causing it to act like your avatar. The little fountain was prolly hitting the cap and leaking out. Nothing worse than a loose rubber!

The low brake fluid problem is very common with the 95-99 avenger/sebring/galant/eclipse as well. As the brake pads wear the caliper piston moves in causeing the fluid level to drop. Once it's at the right level it will trigger the light and/or chime once the momentum sloshes the fluid around. The neon is the only one of those cars that chimes in addition to the dash light, the others only trigger the dash light. I'm not sure if it's a sensor placement problem or just a flawed sensor system, but countless threads popped up about it. My avenger did this every time my pads hit the 3/4 wear mark, add a little fluid and it's fixed until the next set of pads.
Had the same experience in my SRT-4. brake light started illuminating under acceleration, though the brake pads were nowhere near worn out. Never heard the chime though -- the car's too loud for that, I guess.Donkeypuncher wrote:The low brake fluid problem is very common with the 95-99 avenger/sebring/galant/eclipse as well.
