Headlight Bolts 2000-2002 vs. 2003-2005

Post by Mopar65 » Sun Feb 15, 2009 6:26 pm

I know the headlight bolt thing has been talked to death on here and mine broke too. I have my modern projectors coming in the mail on tuesday. I dont like going trough the dealer for parts, so are the headlight bolts from the 2000-2002 neons the same as the ones from a 2003-2005 neons? I smell a junkyard run if they are. Thanks

Mike

Yes. At least the ones from my 01 plymouth were the same as my 04 SRT...so I'm going to go with yes.

Yeah I'm only running one bolt in each side, not because they broke, mine came out just fine with one hand and a tiny ratchet, but for some reason I can't get the one back in with my projectors. The tab above the turn signal seems like it needs to be just a tiny bit longer. They're not near falling off though.

Pfft. You don't even NEED the long bolts. I've attached my lights using duck tape, zip ties, and hope before.

After breaking my long bolts (and not having the welded nuts on the underside) trying to get my new lights in I just decided to go with slightly thicker short bolts and they work fine; no movement.

(I am in no way condoning the use of wrong hardware and hope to hold your car together  )

You can really only get away with that on the 00-02 neons because of how the turn signal goes. If you mount with one bolt on the 03-05s the headlights wobble. I broke one before..... lol :beatstick:

I found one good long one from the junkyard and then pulled some off of a i think 2002 dodge intrepdi. The threads are the same, but the length and bolt size are different. It doesn't matter it still fits.
