switch to 03-05 steering wheel - what about cruise?

Post by radixts » Mon Feb 16, 2009 1:17 pm

What parts do I need to get the cruise to work using the later 03-05 controls in my 00 car? Can i just get the button lever thing that attaches to the steering wheel?

I would think you would need the entire cruise control module, not just the multi function switch. If the car didn't come with it from the factory, its not wired for it. But you shouldn't need to change multifunction switches just to switch a steering wheel.

the car has cruise control now. but I need the 03-05 button to work it. theres nowhere to attach the 00-02 buttons on a newer steering wheel.

mopar sells a kit for the pt cruiser Part #82208100AB that works, SRT-4 guys have been doing it for a while, and yes it works with stage kits, except those with turbo toys

first car was an 03 sxt. i just really liked the look of the tri-spoke wheel, so i got a leather wrapped srt-4 one. was gonna put it on my turbo 99 first gen - but the car got hit - so i sold it.

now im picking up an 00. its got a leather wheel but it looks like my first gen wheel. so i want to put the srt-4 steering wheel in it - but obviously that one doesn't have the cruise stalk

thanks for the help. now if i can find a kit that just has the stalk buttons since i dont need the servo or anything else.

funny.. i wanted to do the opposite. i have an 05 sxt but previously had a 99 and a 96 and i don't like the new cruise style. it looks like they forgot to put it in the wheel and just said screw it, stick something on there.

wanna trade for parts? I'll send you my leather wrapped steering wheel with the buttons and airbag for the parts I'll need. I pick the car up on saturday - to look at the steering wheel check the link

I don't know if the connectors for the wires will all be the same or not. if anyone has pictures of the wires going to the clockspring or the cruise wires in general.... it'd be appreciated.

i don't think so. it won't be above 40 for quite some time here and my garage is not heated. on top of that i really doubt if the connectors are the same and i do not want to have any chance of my airbag not working.
