Ok, So Hansken figured out that I needed new wheel bearings. But heres some info and my questions that maybe somebody knows.
Front Wheel Bearings
00-01 Are the same
Autozone part #
510057 Timken $71.00
Napa part #
PGB PFW129 $38.59
BRG FW129 $71.99
02-05 all the same including the srt
Autozone Part#
SET49 Timken $29.99
V49 Valuecraft $19.99
Napa Part #
PGB PFW115 $22.79
BRG FW115 $51.49
I have an 01 SE. I read somewhere on 2gn that on the 02 RT that the bearings where switched halfway through the year to the newer style. But did just the bearing change or is the Knuckle physically differant? If it isn't, I should be able to use the newer bearings from an 03-05 in my 01 knuckle. Another question, Is the 00-01 bearing less massed produced hence the higher prices or is it higher quality and vice versa for the 03-05 & SRT front wheel bearings?
Heres the Bearing diameters for the 03 + newer bearing.
I couldnt find the measurements for the 00-01 bearings.
PGB PFW115
I.D. 1.6535"
O.D. 2.992"
W. 1.5354"

Yeah... Gotta love those front end problems.
So, if I'm understanding what is being asked... is there any real difference in the bearing from 00-02 and 03-05?... Dante???????

I could have sworn I've seen a thread here that had all the specs for the various front wheel bearings.
Can't find it tho.
Did find this:

A few months back I told a bone yard what my car was and I needed a whole knuckle, I picked one up and had it installed...
Well the wheel went from a little off to royally off, not only are there bearing size issues, but where the outer tie rod connects to the knuckle there are several placement issues.
1 - the outer tie rod mounting hole in the knuckle is closer to the frame
2 - the outer tie rod mounting hole is offset toward the wheel
To top that all off, there are 2 diferent bearing sizes!
As for changing to an SRT rack and kuckles is deffinately a different story, but replacing a knuckle from a 01 R/T, thats a pain alone

I found my answer. I wonder if its worth replacing all my stuff so I get the wider bearing since I have an SRT swap.ACR MAN wrote:
I don't have the dimensions with me at home, but I have measured the 2000 neon bearing and the 2002 bearing. The I.D. (where the hub fits) is the same, and the O.D. (where it presses into the knuckle) is the same. However, the depth is greater on the 2002-04 neon and 2003-04 SRT-4 bearings.
The part number issue is a little bit complicated. The 2002 model year used two different bearing widths, depending on when the car was built. It's my understanding that for approximately the first month of 2002 model year neon production, the 2000-01 (narrow) front bearing was used. The wider 2003-04 bearing was used for the remainder of the model year. Consequently, the bore in the knuckle was made deeper to accomodate the new bearing, the hub was slightly lengthened and the CV joint nose was lengthened as well. The 2002 parts catalog refers to bearings, hubs and knuckles for a 33mm wide bearing vs a 39mm wide bearing. Here are the part numbers:
4668442AA -- 2000 to early 2002 bearing (33mm wide)
5272448AA -- 2002-04 bearing, except SRT-4 (39mm wide)
5272447AA -- 2003-04 SRT-4 bearing
4670292AC -- 2000 to early 2002 hub
4670292AE -- 2002-04 hub, including SRT-4
Note that the 4670292AC hub does not supersede to the 4670292AE hub! The SRT-4 bearing is dimensionally identical to the 2002-04 neon bearing, but built stronger.
I first became aware of this issue back in 2002, when I asked why the 2002 ACR at work had different part number halfshafts than all the 2001 ACRs and 2001 PTs that I had seen. The 2002 half shaft part numbers were different because the 2002 ACR in question had the deeper bearings...
I think, I'm just gonna replace the bearing and see how long it will last.
Thanks everyone
