door arm rest panel painting?

hey i was wondering if anyone knows if these panels are removable and paint-able because i would like to color-match them with my car color. any help would be appreciated! thanks ahead!

well first off there a rubber material. the only way you can paint it is sand it down clean it off put some flex additive in your primar give it some nice heavy coats of primar, if u still want the texture then dont put as many coats. then put some more flex additive in ur paint, put a couple coats of paint, then to be safe put a little bit of flex additive in ur clear. since its a rubber material it flexis alot so thats y u put that stuff in it. it can still chip and crack put its less likly since u have the flex stuff in it. or u can just spray can it and put some spray can clear coat over it and b cheap.

Being a body/paint guy your self you should know better than this. Almost every single thing you posted here is wrong. Where did you learn to do this stuff? Maaco?

1. If you are going to put anything on it at all you are going to want to use the proper cleaning steps. The proper products. And you are going to want to use a adhesion promoter.
2. You do NOT flex paint. Come on dude that is painting 101.
3. You only flex your primers and clears. And not all flex additives keep paint/clear/primers flexible for ever. Your cheaper flex additives will only keep it flexable for like a week. Your more expensive higher quality ones are starting to switch over to a different type of flex that holds in there for alot longer. But still. I would be weary of putting it on rubber like that.

I think the main thing you are going to worry about if wanting to get the shiny appearance like your exterior, is going to be getting it to stick decently. If you don't have the proper materials and cleaners it just ain't gunna work.

You could use a paint specifically designed for flexible areas like that. But you won't hit the gloss like your exterior is. And weather or not you can achieve the color you are looking for is another one too.

hahaha, well iv never used flex additive and some guy with a truck had his rubber arm rest painted and thats what he told me to do it with. and i forgot about the adhesive promoter. i cant belive i forgot about that. what i did with mine is sand it down and put a little bit of fiberglass on it.

For anyone that cares:

To paint these flexible panels you could use the paint that your hobby store sells.

The only problems would be finding a close color match and finding a very flexable clear.
