my car wont align

Post by negusjuda » Sun Mar 01, 2009 7:30 am

ok here is the deal took my neon to get a alignment and was told bushings and one of the tie rods were bad so i took it to dodge dealer thinking they know what they doing before the car was worked on it pulled to the right now since the tie rod and and control arm bushings were changed the car pulls pretty hard to the left so i figuered they just didnt do the alignment being they were aholes when they had the car but thats another story anyway so i took it to a tire place up the road to get a sec alignment again im givin back the car and it pulls to the left hard now either these service techs are really dumb around here or there is something else wrong with the car and what really kills me is both places test drove the car i dont see how they can miss the fact that it pulls hard to the left any advice is helpful thanks

dude take the car back to the first people and dont leave the shop without them fixing it. theres no reason why ur car should pull to the left. have them give you the readings and look at each one where it marks the green. it should all be ok and if its not then its beacause the shop is trying to screw you. so take it back and talk to like the manager or boss.

My car is currently pulling to the right a little under acceleration. As soon as I let off, I need to pull the wheel to the right to avoid oncoming traffic.

The problem is the front LCA bushing has failed. With someone turning the wheel back and forth in the driveway, I can see the control arm moving.

Your description sounds about the same.

I made a new bushing at work and will change mine today.

How many miles are on the car? What kind of maintenance do you do?

There are a few more things that could also cause the car to not drive straight.

The problem I had turned out to be the bolt through the control arm to the frame being loose. Not very, but enough to put some play in the alignment.

just FYI - tires can create a pull
swap tires from side to side - see if the pull changes
2000 LX 3sp Auto, 201,000 miles, Orig engine and trans - both have never been apart other than reg maint. 33 mpg

Worn-out inner tie rods will do that too. When one went bad on my 1st gen I could practically drive around corners from all the torque steer. Accelerate to go right, decelerate to go left.
