three tickets in one stop
well today on my way to work i was following a friend and because of the weather the last few days they had sanded the roads, and to avoid being pummeled with rocks i decided to pass him,so on a long straight four lane passing zone, he was doing about the same speed as i was at the time around 60,so i sped up and i pass him doing around 70 in a 55,right as i pull out there is a Oregon state police car,i didn't hit my breaks or anything just slowed down to 58 or so and he whipped around and followed me,i knew i was speeding,i knew i was going to get pulled over.it sucks but i had it coming right? so i wait for him to light me up,and he does. when he comes up to the car he is very rude, tells me that the reason he pulled me over is speeding,i say i am sorry officer i didn't realize how fast i was going,he ask for my license and insurance,he notices that the address on my license and the one on my insurance doesn't match,i tell him that i have moved in the last few months and had forgotten to change it over,he then walks around my car and says he will be back, about ten Min's goes by and he hands me a citation for speeding, and reckless endangerment, and for failure to notify the DMV of my address change.690 dollars in fines,he then tells me that if he ever sees me speeding again no matter if it is only 5 miles over the speed limit i will be arrested and my car impounded.he said his reasoning was that it is winter time and even though the pavement was dry with no precipitation i was risking the lives of people on the road by passing on a straight one mile four lane passing section.in the middle of no where. i do not get tickets often,i have no points against my license.i drive safe, never street race,i do not hang out with the wrong crowd ect.it just seems a little steep of a punishment.what do you guys think?? the speeding part i can deal with, the reckless endangerment part i don't want on my record, and the change of addresses come on! am i wrong for feeling this way?? should i fight it?? like i said i dont get tickets often so i am not sure how to about this one

I think that is where you went wrong right up there.theTeejmiester wrote:well today on my way to work i was following a friend and because of the weather the last few days they had sanded the roads, and to avoid being pummeled with rocks i decided to pass him
Stay behind and increase the following distance... that way both you and your friend avoid the rocks.

Ummm... Yeah.... That doesn't work unless you drop back excessively far, in which case your likely to invite other people to pull in front of you to cause the same issue.
The speeding... you fessed up to that. The reckless is a fucking joke and should be fought. The paperwork should be dropped as soon as you get it fixed (I think.... don't quote me on it).

Everyone knows that for breasts to be "perfect" they need to be within reach.
Speeding - Fault
Change of address - Eeeeh I guess it is your fault for not thinking of it. I don't know if it was the best idea to tell the cop you 'forgot'.
Reckless Endangerment - That is kind of steep, altough I know cops around here will do the same thing. You could try to fight it but I've never fought a ticket so I wouldn't know how well that would turn out...

Id say he has you with speeding even though you were only passing, but fight the reckless part. As for the address thing, I don't know how it is in Oregon, but in Florida, you have 6 months to get everything in order if you move and have a different address. If it's the same or similar there and your within that time frame, fight it.

I don't think it is acceptable to pass the friend and risk showering his car with rocks while doing so.hansken_yo wrote:Ummm... Yeah.... That doesn't work unless you drop back excessively far, in which case your likely to invite other people to pull in front of you to cause the same issue.

there is no rocks on the passing lane, that's why i waited to pass to avoid throwing rocks on him.plus his car is a piece of crap and like he said to me at work he doesn't care about rocks hitting his car, plus he has no license due to a DUI and shouldn't be driving at all anyways.the rocks are on the corners.and i forgot to change my address because i have a lot going on in my life,i take care of my mom who has had cancer four times in the last four years, and has many doctor appointments all over the state, and can barely take care of herself, let alone my seven year old sister.my youngest daughter who is autistic, and has speech classes,Dr appointments etc, plus working full time and as much part time as i can get,to help supplement our incomes because my wife goes to school full time.so do you think that would be a good reasons not have changed it?? from a judges point of view. like i said all i want is the it dropped to speeding.i just don't wanna fuck it up,my insurance just went down cause i turned 25 and i have no accidents or anything on my record and now it will go back up if this shit sticks to me
lol i was up all night stressed out.

You could always get a lawyer and he can clean your record of all three. It might cost you quite a bit but it will be like it never happened. This works best if you have a friend who is a lawyer.
I got pulled over 2 years ago after I passed someone and the cop said he clocked me at 94 in a 55. I was only going about 70 which I told him that was what I was doing but he wrote me up a reckless driving and speeding ticket. I told my friend and he went to court and got it taken care of even when the cop actually showed up to make sure I was fined.
You could always test his theory about 5 mph over and watch the dispatcher/judge/his coworkers laugh at him when he calls in your arrest for going 60 in a 55. A lawyer would have a field day with that...

But, you said that you did not realize how fast you were going yet you also said this in your original post up there "so i sped up and i pass him doing around 70 in a 55"

I understand the speeding ticket, and believe you should pay that. In RI if you get a ticket for paperwork, registration, etc. you fix the issue and then bring the new paperwork with you to court showing that you addressed the issue at hand. Once a judge sees this they abolish the charges. Again, that is RI and I'm not entirely sure if your state follows suit.
If I were you I would call the department about that and see if it's possible. As for the reckless endangerment charge, I don't quite understand it if you were in a passing lane and not driving erratically.
Cops are not "PIGS", they are simply doing their job. As with ANY job there are a few assholes here and there, but you get that...EVERYWHERE in all fields of work. Cops get a very bad break and judgement based on a few. Sad really, since the majority are not that way.

Postpone the court date twice, he might not show up on the 2nd or 3rd time. Get a lawyer. Good luck, if you're very lucky you'll get PBJ, and a reduced fine.
BTW guys, Silver_ES is a WA state police officer, and a stand up citizen. From all the traffic police that I've met, 1/4 have been assholes, about on point for any person I've met. First cop pulled me over, I had no idea how fast I was going. I had been driving for a month, got pulled over for 75 in a 40, he wrote it to 60 in a 40, and I went to court and got PBJ.
2nd ticket was 84 in a 55 almost a year later, and that turned into a huge problem. The officer knew I had moved since my registration said so, but my license was old. He wrote down my old address, court date got sent there. Months later I got a suspension notice, so I wrote a check to them, but got the ticket number off by one number, license got suspended, but I had no idea.
3rd ticket, pulled over for driving on a suspended license. This was X-mas eve. The officer made me call people to get someone to drive the car instead of just impounding it, so that was cool. Went to court, showed I had paid the ticket, refund was issued to the wrong address, etc etc, got a stet docket.
4th set of tickets. Got pulled over at work at 6AM on a Saturday morning. The parking lot was dead empty, and I nailed it doing 5MPH to 20MPH. Officer pulled me over, gave me a ticket for speeding, ticket for driving on suspended registration (late to emissions), and going through a stop line (that wasn't there). The whole time he was yelling about how "it wasn't a race track" and how "this is a VERY busy day, we have people coming in and out and this is the only place they can walk through"....DICK IT WAS 6AM on SATURDAY. We were the only people on the FUCKING COMPLEX. That officer was an asshole, and he's always been an asshole at my job. He's always harassing the people I work with, and just being a "super trooper". I don't understand him.
I've had numerous encounters with the AA county police, basically just chasing us out of the parking lots where we're having our car meets. Some are dicks, most are just like "come on guys, I don't want to but I have to kick you out"

Sometimes I really wish I was a cop, then I would nail everyone for every little fucking thing they do wrong. And it would be 100% deserved.
I don't think this is the situation with teej, but some people get so shitty because they got pulled over when they broke the law.
Also, maybe teej got up to speed then on come the lights, look down, o shit. He may not have known he was up to 70mph.

honestly i cant comlain about the cops around here, the city cops where i live dont really pull you over for anything. in the last 10 years i have probably seen the city cops pull someone over maybe 4 or 5 times, mostly for running a stop sign.
highway patrolmen just like to make you nervous, they do the old fallow you real close which they are running your lic plate number then fall back and pass you
sheriffs around here dont bother too much, mostly see them at the mall or around my college which there is a prison down the road lol
got pulled over once when i was 17 going to work, it was a little after 7am and was running late for work, statey was comming down the hill i was going up, 55 in a 40 and he pulls a u-turn and i pull over in a gas station. asks me for the usual and goes to his car, gives me a ticket and warning. ticket was because i wasnt wearing a seatbelt and warning for speeding. he was pretty cool. in ohio to get cited for no seatbelt they have to have another reason to pull you over (ie. speeding)

I HATE cops that pull people over for little things. I specifically hate TRAFFIC cops. I would say 80% of them around here are either bald with a molestache or over weight with a molestache and those gay ass sunglasses. I can see why they are upset all the time.
Thats just my opinion take it as you wish.

Holy shit dude. Sorry to hear about that.
You were headed out to JW? Not normally a lot of traffic on that stretch. Heck, I've been passed plenty of times and I was doing around 65. I know the cops in town are making their presence known and getting people for even the smallest things. I saw three yesterday just driving from Altamont to OIT! Guess thats what happens when state funding goes down, they gotta make up for it somehow.
