Accessing dome light wires @ dash

Post by joseph_hac » Wed Mar 11, 2009 9:36 pm

I need to tap into the dome light wires for a project I am planning, but for obvious reasons, would rather not run wires all the way up to the dome light. Could anyone tell me where I can access these wires from under the dash? I have looked at the wiring diagrams in the FSM, but I couldn't find them.

Thank!

It has to go through the MFS switch, just a matter of figuring out wich one.

Could you take off the A-pillars and find them? I would think that would be where they go up, but maybe not. Do you know the colors?

I suspect they may run up the driver's side a-pillar, but I am not sure. I pull the a-pillar cover off tonight and see whats under there.

Don't most aftermarket alarm systems need to tap into the dome light for intrusion detection? Where would they tap in?

easiest spot for me was the drivers kick panel. yellow wire in the harness is the dome ground (trigger) wire.

If you wiring up lights you can use the pink positive wire that runs with it.

Your wire harness for your headliner should run down your left side c pillar. I just installed my headliner today and that is where the harness plugs in. That harness only controls the dome light

FYI a lot of viper/python alarms use the door triggers. You should be able to find the dome light circuit under the steering wheel though. Reference the wiring diagram sticky.
